titanium
I'm looking for something to put on my X-mas list. Anyone recommend some seats that are semi affordable. I love recaros but I'm open to anything. I have a 73 240z.
Forrest
These are the best for the money IMO. They are available from 250-350 a pair.
titanium
Brand and model?
Forrest
DAD (Dynamic Auto Design) - and that's the only model I know of that they make. They fit on stock rails with some slotting on the passenger's side and two straight strips of steel on the driver's side to use as "adapter brackets." Pretty convenient for installation and they fit well in my 77 and 78 (just barely touch the door - don't imepede its closing.)
titanium
Did you get the touring model? Are the 240z and 280z any different for cab size.
Forrest
If you mean the touring model of the seats, I have no idea. They are the only ones I've ever seen for sale, and I got them used. From what I've heard the 240z cab is slightly wider. So you should be good either way.
titanium
240z wider? Weird, I'll give them a call thanks for you help.
240Z2NV
Miata seats are pretty commonly used. Easy to install, fit WITHOUT hitting door, readily available, speakers in headrest, work great if not using four point (or more) harnesses. Do a search..... titanium
I kinda wanted a 4 or 5 point. I planned on trying to start roadracing with it.
Guest DiZeased_240
If you are going to do road racing I would suggest a fixed back. I plan on using a set of Momo Start's. They are also FIA approved. Best price I have found is this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7941613398&category=33701&sspagename=WDVW

I would also recommend something along these lines if you're going to road race. My cars are both going to stay (barely) streetable.
Guest DiZeased_240
I just checked that ebayer's regular website and you can get the same price without going through ebay with free shipping. The only difference is no free harness pads... but who really needs them. The website is: http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/racingseats.html
Forrest
I'd think if you called you could get a better deal, and the free pads. After all, they will have to give ebay something like 10-15$ for that sale. But I agree, shoulder pads are for girls!
Guest tejas74260
i really think these seats look bad arse in a z, they're fd3s rx7 seats from the r-1 model....check it pretty sweet in my opinion
Dudeboy
Take a look a Corbeaus. I have the Forza II (Blue with black trim). The cost was about $500.00 (shipped) which included brackets made for my Z year. Also, included the harness and pads. I LOVE THEM, if you do not like the fix back, check out the A4 Corbeau. Look at fit in my album - the seats took about two hours remove seats and install (rear bracket bolts took some art to tighten down). Also, I am 6ft. 215 lb. and I am comfortable on long drives. Shop around for price, several racing distributors sell Corbeaus. http://www.corbeau.com/products/forza2/forza2.shtml#
Dudeboy
BTW, I am married- the significant other is comfortable with the harness pads. If your significant other is along for the ride and they are comfortable, you get to spend more money on the Z !!!!
dot
http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ Look under "Catalog/soft trim". I want the leather ones from santa.
deMideon
If you are at all tall... be VERY careful! Most of the seats mentioned on here are too high for someone like me! I am 6' 3" and have tried quite a few seats, the stock ones work great of course, the only ones I have found that are suitable for me are out of a 200sx I believe. I ended up going to the junk yard and searching around with my tape measure until I found something that fit and was low!
2126
demidion is right! If your a tall person (5' 10" or better) you might want to look at a set of SPARCO entry level and certified race seats. The butt pad portion of the seats are suspended similar to the stock seats and won't put your head up against the headliner. How do I know this? Went through this exercise myself. My seats are in a fixed position and by drilling additional holes in the stock seat brackets they bolted right up. I actually used some of the stock round plastic seat spacers to get my seatback angle to my satisfaction. These seats are like a glove....absolutely perfect for performance driving. They take a little getting used to, to get in and out of them.....probably a little more effort with a rollcage. I payed $200.00 each and they will accommodate a harness as well. Just my two cents worth...hope it helps you out some.
titanium
Well I'm 6'1" 180lbs, I'm stuck between the Corbeaus, Sparco and the Momo one for the 240. They've gotta be 5point compatible 4 points just seem so easy to slide into the pedals durring an accident. Anyone with first hand experiance that can help me with my final decision?
