sulla
Hi I have made a deal for a car pending final inspection. Its a 260z that the owner used to drive and autocross. I am wondering what to check for the could be broken from autocrossing. I know the front swaybar mount needs fixed but that seems to be very common. The car has an L28 with triple webbers and header, performance springs, swaybars, bushings etc. It also still has the air and heater hooked up and the inside is not to bad but I have all the pieces to make it look perfect I think. Any way excited to get the car but want to make sure to know what damage to look for besides rust
JMortensen
About the only autox damage I've seen is a nasty cone hickey...
mark
Check to see if the frame rails are still welded to the floor pans. After a few years of auto Xing my 240, the frame rails began to pop the spot welds. Easy fix but you should look. mark

Mikelly
Also check the area around the TC boxes where the TC rods bolt into the frame... I've seen those separate. Mike
johnc
Check the following areas for cracks: 1. Radiator core supports where they attach to the frame rails and front innner fenders. 2. Front anti-roll bar mounts. 3. TC rod mounts. 4. Front lower contorl arms where the TC rod mounts. 5. Front frame rails where the front crossmember bolts up. 6. Front frame rails at the firewall and under the floor pan. 7. Entire driveshaft tunnel. 8. Rear bulkhead/rear frame rail junction. 9. Rear crossmember mounting points. 10. Upper rear hatch area around C-pillar. 11. Seat belt mounts. 12. Transmission mounts in the trans tunnel.
