violacleff
I saw these on ebay and actually got a chance to sit in them, and well they were pretty comfortable. I'm don't autocross or nothing and my seats are really bad and uncomfortable now. Is there any reason I should be spending big bucks on recaros, corbeaus, ect...? I would just like a comfortable nice looking styled seats that recline. Is there a safety/quality issue here or do you pay $$$ for a name? Sparks280zt
I wouldnt buy those because im not sure if anyone on here uses them and the fitment might be an issue. I would suggest the DAD racing seats because they are in the same price range of the ones you linked and guys on here like Forrest already have them in their Z and their is no fitment issue. These DAD seats also work on the stock rails with a little work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33701&item=7965451206&rd=
Guest Night_rider_383
I bought a set of those same seats, but from a diff seller for my 1988 camaro. I got to say, I love them. Quality is great for a lower priced seat. The fit (left to right) gave more clearance than the stock seats in the car. Seems very well made. I only had them in for alittle less than a mo. though. Put them in the 9th of this mo., so I cant tell you how they hold up over a long time, but this is my daily driver and so far so good. Here's some of the pics.... As you can see, I took the sliders off, made some tabs and bolted my stock camaro tracks to them http://community.webshots.com/photo/289796060/292230837SkxxXM http://community.webshots.com/photo/289796060/292231813YOIxsb http://community.webshots.com/photo/289796060/292232390gmHqLw http://community.webshots.com/photo/289796060/292232878pdOLMn http://community.webshots.com/photo/289796060/292233344iXljSF http://community.webshots.com/photo/292239995/292243540WBuluA http://community.webshots.com/photo/292239995/292244007OWjlXv
Owen
"Is there any reason I should be spending big bucks on recaros, corbeaus, ect...?" No, unless you have money to burn, are making an all out show car to compete with lambo-door ricer cars, or are serious about racing and want a high quality seat. I've sat in most of the high quality seats and liked the Bride ones the best, but at least $700 for one, without rails?!?! They need to put these things in airplanes... Scottie-GNZ
Only $85 Buy It Now, but did you notice it will be $160 for shipping/handling/insurance?
violacleff
Well scottie, I met a guy down here that was able to pick them up in person, so he paid only $200 for both. Beside even for an extra $160, thats still cheaper than one seat would cost me from a brand name right?
2126
An issue I encountered, and this goes for just about all aftermarket seats, is the amount of clearance you will have between your head and the headliner after your install. I'm 5' 10" tall and long in the torso...so for me to get enough head room (more would be better for a helmet), I went with a suspension type seat as opposed to the pricier units that have a complete seat shell and did not use sliders. I bolted directly to the stock seat crossmembers. Just some food for thought, for those planning on new seats. Of course, if you are a bit shorter than I am, you may not have the same head room issue. I just didn't want to feel like I was sitting in a Kenworth....instead, I prefered the low sports car seating position.
Phantom
I have posted photos of my seats in my album. Mine are stock S30 seats - totally refurbished with a small amount of side bolster in the seat and the adjustment rack lowered just over an inch in the back. If he will allow someone to pick it up for $200, that should be the "real" selling price. It makes me wonder what other unethical business practices he may subscribe to... This seller has 442 people that have left negative feedback for him:twak:
