turbo_fb
I was wondering if there is supposed to be a bearing in the middle of the flywheel for the gearbox spindle to hit. And it seems like my engine is missing a pilot bush or it's just me that dont know what it is. Is it just a sleeve of some sort?
kcelectronics
From memory it is a sintered bronze bush, that is porous to enable it to be impregnated with grease. so yes there MUST BE a bush there or the input shaft will "flop about" Chuckie:twisted:
RB26powered74zcar
unless you have a motor that was used with a auto trans, there should be a bronze bush in the end of the crank. if its a RB20 or 25 that had a auto trans, it won't have one. 240Z_Master
Yeah, usually the "pilot bushing" comes with the clutch kit if you have one. Part number for that should be "32202-B5900".
HakosukaJD
So anybody know where I can buy the pilot bush puller? It took me an hour to get the damn thing out today. I tried pulling with half of a gear puller. Then tried the "fill it with grease and shove a spline in there" trick. Finally, I just pulled out a damn chisel and took the thing apart. Are they always this much a pain in the ***?! I'm thinking the one in there was the original because I literally had about 30 degrees of play with the alignment tool! EDIT: and actually, I need it for an L6 rather than an RB.
240Z_Master
I've always used a slide hammer that has a screw in part, it takes like 30 seconds.

240Z_Master
[url']http://www.etoolcart.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=759[/url] I guess if you own a shop it's worth hte eighty-someodd dollars (or if you want to do it right). But I don't think I work on enough clutches to make it worth my time =P
JMortensen
Or you can take a Dremel and grind one sliver out of the bushing. Once you cut it it looses its press fit on the hole in the crank and comes out easily.
