MYRON
CAN IT BE DONE?? I have noticed that some diffs out of late 280z's (76-78) do not have the 6 bolts holding in a seal or bearing where you plug in the stub axles? My 77 does NOT have the bolts and i was under the inpression that it had the r200, but the 78 that i just got HAS the bolts in the diff case... what is the deal and or difference??? John Scott
Myron, I do know the R200 case is bigger and rounder than the 180 (from the rear) . Not very scientific, but a noticible difference. JS
Mikelly
Yup, Ron is right. The R200 is visibly larger at the pumpkin.... Mike ------------------ "I will not be a spectator in the sport of life!" mjk
Dave
Myron.. Only the R180 have the bolts holding the seal retainer. If there are no bolts around the side axles it is a R200. It is very easy to tell on any Z just look at the side of the diff from the front of the rear tire. Somebody has swapped the R200 for a R180 in your 78. Dave... Danno74Z
Myron, I'm sure you have seen this before but go to this site - pictures of both diff. side by side. Go a 1/3 down the page to see the pics. http://www.clanlittle.com/engine.html Danno74Z
