cyrus
Oh I forgot. It had 38K on it. ORIGINAL everything! I had to put a new clutch in it. And I put new magnaflow cats, plus maintaince items as this car was sitting in a barn for 10 years. He started 1 once a month. Just to keep it nice for me. Oh and Kumho's MX tires. LS1 Z
I can see pix now. Nice R1 Cyrus. What are your plans for it? Are you gonna join the LS1 crowd like MAS280, LS1240Z, HEAVYZ and me? What did you pay for it? I loved driving my FD until I pulled the drive train out of it. I'm sure I'll love it more once my swap is done. Looks good. Whats cool about the FD is there rare and a great looking car. Meaning, except for Mike's, John's and Brets, I never see any. JOEY
fcdrifter13
Not to good with FDs but ill it a shot. The pics didnt work for me so Im going blind. Ok if its a twin setup, most owners replace that with a big turbo, because the stock twins suck at life. As far as swapping in an LS1, its tried and true, but not necissarily more reliable. Most Na rotories can go for 200k with out a rebuild if maintained properly, turbo motors a lil less. They are in fact very reliable, and if something goes wrong can be rebuilt for damn cheap, like 1600 and that includes labor, a lil more for porting. Not totally dissing the idea of a LS1 just try to wankle and then do what you like. Like I said an LS1 is a great swap, you can get good power and about the same gas milage. You can go to www.rx7club.com and do a lil searching on some stuff. I am an fc fb/sa guy so besides the fd shell I had, havnt had much experience with the FD. 280zwitha383
Someone fill me in, what year models look like that? I've seen ONE in person in my life and I really like the looks of them. If I ever get my hands on one I would definitely do an LSx swap in it if I could bring myself to pulling out a perfectly good-running drivetrain. fcdrifter13
well the FD(the RX-7 pictured) started production in 1993 (also the last fc verts were sold this year as overflow) and ended in 2002(in japan, went less here not sure of year). Hardly anyone sees one around here and I was lucky to own a shell a while back. Main probelms with this car was the stock twin setup as mentioned earlier, works good when it works. Most people will tell you that dropping a V8 in there is crude(it isnt) heavier(notmuch) and wil l dramatically affect the handling(wont). Its a tried and true swap. Please read up on the posted links for more info on this swap if you want. http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=449950 http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=68640 http://www.team140.com/faq/faq.php and for just wanting to ee what other owners are doing. http://www.rx7club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16 And here are some basic terms used with the cars 1st gen though 3rd gen. LS1 Z
The FD's were sold in the US from 93-95. A grand total of less than 15 thousand cars. I believe (could be wrong) the FD was sold elsewhere in the world till 99. JOEY P.S. Good comments, info and linky's fcdrifter13

Guest l28et
Hmm I thought they went until 02 in japan. Oh well like I said not to good with FDs. You're right. It was the last of Japans greats sports cars to stay in production. (300ZX, RX7, 3000GT, Supra, etc) Thats an awesome looking RX7.
