Sven
It's in a boat, isn't it?!? What car has another set of valve covers disappearing into the firewall?
olie05
It's in a boat, isn't it?!? What car has another set of valve covers disappearing into the firewall? That is not another set of valve covers, I'm guessing more along the lines of distributor(s) and no, its not in a boat. (good question though) Is it Italian? perhaps... redruM_0381
I think I found it... ~1953 Ferrari 250 V12? http://www.autodrome-cannes.com/ferrari_250_mm_engine_1953_s.jpg
olie05
Yep! well there are a few slight differences, for example the rearward mounted distributors vs. front. but i guess the biggest discrepancy is that this engine was found in the 166 corsa spyder http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=2672 Anyone else want to start it again? Sven
I've realized that guessing my avatar pic might be damn near impossible, but I hold out hope. What I do offer is a much more impressive automotive landmark. I'll even throw in a sound clip! http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/Mystery_Engine_Sound.asf

stony
So that sound is the above pictured engine????? It sounds badass... got a pic of what the car looks like? cause the sound dosnt match the way that motor looks. i figured it was kinda old but the pic looks real old and the revs that thing is doing sounds more modern. at any rate nice post. HS30-H
B.R.M. ( British Racing Motors ) V16. Debuted in 1949. Looks like the pictured installation is the Mk.2 version in the P50 Formula One car ( 1952? ) belonging to Nick Mason, and I recognise the sound clip too. 1496cc Approx 600BHP @ 12,000 rpm Unmistakeable.
