Photoshopped an idea for a theme

I think that would be a very nice and creative theme! It reminds me of a WWII fighter jet (i.e. Swedish air force). The interior of the z has always reminded me of a fighter jet or submarine with it being compact and having all the circular green lit gauges. I like the choice of rims for the project also. I think it brings the exterior of the car together with the rivits on the lip of the rim. It could be a very very nice and unique car if done right. I noticed in the members project section that you are putting an RB in the 240. That will stick to your theme perfectly because when it is all said and done the car really will fly!

P.S.- it is too bad that you bought the car from Missouri. I live in Missouri and all the old cars here that have been sitting outside are toast . We have alot of humidity and that just kills the cars here. But it looks like you did ok with all the rust and it sounds like you will have an awesome hybrid z!

best of luck to ya!

this sounds really familiar...I wonder if somebody discussed this idea at length in multiple threads once? I guess that's what I get for putting my ideas out on the internet before they're brought to fruition...when you taste this good, everybody wants a bite!

I grant you my blessing, feel free to steal my half baked ideas to your heart's content!

Veritech, I sincerely hope your comment is in jest. This repeated, "everyone is stealing my ideas" line from you is getting a bit old. You are certainly not the first person to think of this sort of thing, and I have plenty of pictures of cars done in this style. I'm sure when spring rolls around and I hit the road in my lo-buck 240, you'll cry foul once again, no matter how different from yours it is.

I planned out the scheme for my car almost 2 years ago, and a few months ago OTM spelled out an almost identical idea. He obviously hadn't been chatting with my friends in Connecticut, stealing my thoughts. Did I get bent out of shape? No, because that would be ridiculous. Almost no idea is original anymore. You've had some pretty original ideas, your VF and Camo BRE paint jobs were definitely all yours and very cool. Don't crap all over that by claiming anyone with a quasi-military paint job is ripping you off.

Veritech, I sincerely hope your comment is in jest.

It was a joke, sorry it got under your skin. I don't have any gripes with anybody here at Hybridz, every time I've ever posted a comment of that nature, it was always meant to be in good fun. I like Mull a lot, and I have the utmost respect for his project and dedication ( I know I certainly wouldn't be patient enough to do what he's done with his car!). I think this was another case of typing not having a tone of voice, since I certainly intended no disrespect when typing. I don't mind if people use my ideas, if I did, I certainly wouldn't post them on an international car forum (and I also realize that there aren't many new ideas left out there, I've seen airplane paint job cars as well). I hope there weren't too many other ruffled feathers out there, if so, sorry to you guys as well!

Constructive suggestions for Mull: how about if you moved the engine intake detail to the fender just in front of the door? Most fighter planes have those leading the wings, closer to the nose. That way that line won't be competing with your door edge for attention when your eye travels down the side of the car. Some other ideas: I was going to incorporate some of my rust into the paint job as bullet/missile damage back when I had the old Veritech paint scheme, but changed my mind. I don't know how much you've got left after your big welding operation, but if there are any misc. holes left, that's something to think about.

Hey Mull, I don't know how wide your flares are, but I had another idea while drawing out the suggestion from my previous post: why not put the turbine intake detail on the leading edge of the rear flare? you could get a piece of sheet aluminum and rivet it onto the dogleg there like a heat shield just in front of the "intake". That's the upper portion of this drawing, the lower is how it might look if you moved the intake graphic forward like I suggested before.

Also, something I've learned about having a "theme" car: driving a theme car is like wearing leather pants. You may look good in them, but if you don't wear THEM, they'll be wearing YOU...if that makes any sense? you've got to be ready for the looks (cell phone camera pics: "so and so will never believe THIS!") and the conversations through the window at every other stop light. I got a lot of that with the Veritech paint scheme, and I had a nice chat with some board members of the home owner's association here about my stenciled on "danger: flammable" graphic by the fuel filler door (even though I've got a fuel cell in the trunk...I've since smoothed out the door altogether). Also, my www.rbmotoring.com license plate frame that came with my wheels once got me a chase down from a kid in a honda civic to ask what motor was in the car. I really wanted to try and shout that to him at 80mph on the highway...

I think the hood needs something, I'm thinking that I'll be getting a carbon fiber hood at some point, and I'd like to rivet on some aluminum louvers like these:

I can't decide if I want one wide like that either on the power bulge or just in front, or if I want two long single strips to run down either side of the bulge. I'm leaning toward the latter. Also, you are welcome to use or ridicule these suggestions as you see fit, I'm just throwing them out there for what their worth.

No problem, I guess I took you a little too seriously. Maybe I'm just sensitive about fellow Swedes? Anyway, consider my feathers un-ruffled.

BTW, the jet intake brake duct is a cool idea. I'm stealing it ;).

Don't sweat it Sven! I usually just tell OTM he's stealing my ideas, mostly because I think he is...you gotta watch that OTM, he's a crafty one...Usually the only time I'll do that is if there was some sort of PMing going on behind the scenes that doesn't get mentioned during the great idea reveal, but even then it doesn't bother me, it's still all in good fun!
