Phantom
Here are some photos of the garage that came with the new house. This first one is a shot from the front door of the house showing the main, 3-car garage. It is 30' deep and has a 10x10 heated space off the back of it for storing items that shouldn't freeze. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13445&cat=500&ppuser=8281 This is a photo of the same garage area but from the back door of the house. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13446&cat=500&ppuser=8281 This next one is of the north side, You can see the front garage to the right, the dog run, and the air conditioner for the second floor efficiency apartment. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13447&cat=500&ppuser=8281 This is the south side of the garage. You can see the stairs up to the apartment. The small door is the door to the tool shed where the 18 HP mower is and the large one is an RV bay that currently has a hydraulic lift in it. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13449&cat=500&ppuser=8281 This shows the east side of the garage. Two more bays. These two are insulated, heated, have a sink, and satellite TV. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13450&cat=500&ppuser=8281 This is the northwest corner. It shows one bay of the three car on the front and the two on the south side. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=13448&size=big&cat=500&ppuser=8281 No photos yet of the upstairs apartment but it has a 36" satellite TV, king size bed, full shower, reading chair, queen size hide-a-bed and a mini-kitchen with sink, refridgerator, coffee maker, toaster, and micro-wave. DavyZ
I just showed my wife. It's nicer than our house. I think living here in a hovel is more expensive than having an estate in Yakima. Nice place! Makes me look forward to a positive future change. Davy
wheelman
Phantom, Looks like a real nice place. It's amazing what's available in this area at very reasonable prices. What part of the Yakima area did you finally end up in? My Younger sister lives just outside of Selah, I think we've been over this before, I like it out there, not to far from town but far enough to have a little seclusion. We're going to have to have a Pacific Northwest Z get together at some point. There are 3 HybridZ members here in the Tri-Cities (Wagz, Peternell and myself) and now you in Yakima, several in Seattle at least 1 in Spokane and some in Oregon as well. Yakima is a relatively central location, maybe do something at the drag strip in Union Gap. You should try to make it to one of the local Auto-X events some time. Check out ssscc.org for the schedule, they don't have the full season calendar up yet but the next event is scheduled for March 31st and April 1st. bschiltz
Wow, That's a nice house/barn. What size lot do you have? Can I live in your attic?
Phantom
Yeah. The total area of the garage & apartment is about 2,500 sq.ft. The apartment is just a shade over 500 itself. The whole place is on four acres and has a 1 acre pond right off the back porch of the house. It's stocked with grass carp, bass, and rainbow trout plus salmon return twice a year to spawn. The rainbows are up to 24" long and weigh close to 5 lbs. In the winter the place is overrun with geese and ducks. In our spare time Chris and I hunt the muskrats. One side of the place borders the 9th hole of a local golf course so I'm starting my golf ball collection of those that have been hit over the fence into my front yard. The place is a lot of work but it's worth it. Wheelman - we're up Highway 12 toward naches - just behind the Suntides golf course. We're just over the hill to the West of Selah. I can be on 1st street in Selah from my place in about 10-12 minutes. You might get hooked up with the Yakima Valley Sports Car Club. They've been around a long time and have a lot of scheduled activites.
stony
OK i have to ask. What does a place like that run in your part of town. Here in alaska If you could find a piece of land that big with something like that built on it your looking at 2 million +
jbk240z
My goodness that is awesome. You have hit the motherload my friend. Plus if the wife gets "cranky", you have a nice place to go. I would almost trade my wife and kids for a garage/barn/apt. like that. J/K
jt1
Very nice place, you're going to enjoy it!!!!! I'm pretty sure I see a muskrat sticking his head up under the propane tank, just FYI. John
Pop N Wood
Looks like the former owner would have made an excellent HybridZ member. That guy had his priorities straight when he built that place. Only problem I would have is small apartments like that are often called in-law quarters. I shudder at the thought.... spotfitz
I would almost trade my wife and kids for a garage/barn/apt. like that. J/K I'm game, no joke. I could live there without the house and be VERY happy, especially without the wife and kids. Looks like a nice place Bill. Big improvement from your last place even though I did like your last place.

wheelman
Phantom, I know exactly where that is, I go through that valley at least 3 or 4 times a year to go camping up by Mt. Rainier. I'll have to see if I can find a web site for the Yakima club and get their schedule. Several guys from that area come down to the Tri-Cities and race with us. Phantom
Stony, Cost for the place was about 1/4 of what you'd pay in Alaska. This area is 70% more expensive than Texas but still a lot cheaper than many areas in the country. I've been told that this place is the prettiest in the county and I'm beginning to believe the couple dozen people that have told my wife and I that.
