Daeron
Well i guess i didnt mention that i do audio recording, so archives of that take up one 200 gig hardrive (I like wav), the 80 gig hardrive is for working, and the other is 120 is for my videos (z videos, rides, topgear, etc) Okay, my mouth is open, ready for my foot.. but have you heard of lossless audio compression?? it cuts the size of a wav down roughly in half, oftentimes more, without suffering any loss of quality. Juat thought I would mention that... As for a source of desks, I would think the local thrift store, goodwill/salvation army, or even keeping the eyeballs peeled for garbage on the crub might be a better option that a homedepot desk.. Personally I would want to do this in solid wood, rather than pressboard.. Wind up with a decent product. Then again, the biggest reason I haven't gotten around to doing this is the fact that I dont want to maul my nice hardwood desk I got for Xmas when I was in the first grade... Some-Guy
Well Its not really a fire hazard It stays rather cool in there with the fan box. One of the machines is my server its got 2 160 gigs and an 80 and the other machine is my gaming machine its got a 40 and an 80 gig. there usualy full! I like the way the burner sticks out but its actualy not easy to get stuff in and out of the machines this was just my first attempt at it eventualy Iam going to dismantle the machines put the stuff back in there abit more orderly. I can do this cause well I dont have Z anymore! and iam bored lol
nbesheer
Looks cool I love doing PC mods, and your right on about SATA, much easier to hide the cables. And for harddrive space I got a 320, and a 200 with games, and MS Windows ISOs and TV Recordings every ngiht and I'm no where near filled. not sure how you did that lol. Idealy speaking I will make a better one out of a solid wood later on but this would be a test run as apposed to something for a final product. 280zwitha383
Well of course with editing audio or video I could understand. Saving that many videos off of the internet (especially all of one subject like cars) becomes counterproductive because you end up not knowing what all you have IMO. FYI, SCSi requires a controller and is not that much faster then SATA 3.
Some-Guy
I have an scsi controller already the price of drives has stoped me from buying them. Ill check into SATA more. First things first tho I really need a new video card I still have a 128mb Geforce Ti4200.... agp 4x eww.
auxilary
Do you really have that much junk? I could understand if they're 5 10gig harddrives but with 100 and 200+ gb harddrives you would have to be a sick puppy to need all of that. today's average game install alone takes 3-5 gigs. i had to buy a new drive because I ran out of room (too much porn)

Folder organization and decent file renaming helps alot too. I like the desk too...
