240Z_Master
Alright guys, I have always wanted a KGC10, but I dumped tons o money into my RBZ. Now if you were me... would you say "KEEP THE RBZ YOU NOOB" or "OMFG THE KGC10 IS COOL". Reason being I might have a trade going on and was just wondering about my options. Yes I have put a lot of work into my car, but I have always wanted a KGC10. Thoughs and Opinions?

Mr.INSANE
Your work is going to be for null. You will probally miss your zcar, I have sentimental attachment to mine and i would hate for it to go away. Keep the Z yo!
Guest 280ZForce
Damn Q, all this work on the RB-Z and now a possible depature? Yes, the KGC10 is an awesome car, but you have put in many, many hours on your Z. that is a tough decision. Why don't you keep the Z and tame the mods on it for now and find the funds to finance buying the KGC10? Might pinch the wallet for a bit, but then you can have the best of both worlds! Buying a KGC10 is out of the question for a couple years straight out. I'm just not that financially lucky But Z's... don't get me wrong I love em and that's where I started. I have always just loved a slammed KGC10 with WATS, just look efffin mean.

I have always just loved a slammed KGC10 with WATS, just look efffin mean. i'm going to agree with you on that, but finding a kpg with an s20 that works is damn near impossible, or will cost more than an entire RB30 buildup. Brian (akwikz) can chime in here, as he's imported a number of different skylines of different generations, an has had (or still does) have the mistress, a.k.a, the KPGC10 RB. The cars are gorgeous, possibly my favourite car, but that will be somethign to look forward to after the engine is done for my Z. The good thing about the engine i'm building is that if i get tired of the Z, i can remove it and sell the shell as is, and put it in a KPGC10 when I plan to get one, If i do. but I think you should keep your Z, it's very beautiful and I think everyone here will agree with me when we say you will regret it at one point or another. It's not the end of the world, but there's little reason to justify the change-over.
240Z_Master
I'm sure I'll never find one with a S20, not like I could fix it or find parts. If anything, I would build a L28 with ITBs or stroke it.
AKWIKZ
There are a few key issues with the GC10 series. You really need to look at where there is rust. They rot in the panels just below the doors, the spare tire well, and around the rear windshield. These are pretty common. The rocker panels are not too big a deal as they are readily available. The potential problem in the area is if the rust gets into the frame rail. It could also get into the rails leading into the engine bay. Next, open the trunk, look just above the fuel tank at the rear windshield seal. Any rust there could be a potential problem. The doors are also a place to check. Now, is this by chance the one in Washington that you are considering? If so, there are a few other specific issues with this car. I spoke with the guy when he first got it last year. I looked at several pics and there were some oddities. Now, remember I'm going off of my memory here from a year ago, so don't take it all as exact. The interior had some discrapancies. It looked as though the car originally had power windows as there are no cranks for the backseat. But the front doors look to be manual. I had speculated that the doors may have been switched. Also, the recent paintjob concerned me. Look at the lower portions of the car closely, there looks to be a "tape" under the paint. Possible signs of intentional hiding of rust. Also, the pics of the underside of the car look as though it has had a rough life. Dented spare tire well and such. My opinion of the car is that it was pieced together simply to ship it over here. Now, this is not to say that it is not worth having. Just something to consider. I can go over plenty of other things if you want. Hopefully you still have my number, give me a call if I can help you with anything. Brian

ZXRockie
Q my friend, are you selling your car? Bro I understand how people believe in sentimental value and how much work you put into your car. Your car is a perfect clean Z. If what you want is the KGC10 and you find one in good condition, do it. you can always find z, but a gc10 is the U.S. is just almost unheard of and they are sexy. run your numbers right, your car is one of the finest and if you are selling it you can get every single penny that you spend back. I love my zx and my S14, but I always like first gen Z and I needed the money for the project... Obviously you are ready to move on... Lunar240z
you never get back what you put into a car, no matter how nice.

greenmonster80
Man, I haven't been on the site for just a little while and feel like I missed out on a lot already. I drove both the 240z fairlady and the KGC10 before I decided which to get. Being tall (74") I fit both cars ok. However the KGC10 was easier to drive. Being here stateside makes my rebuild a little more problematic but oh well, I deal with it. Hands down I love my HAKOSUKA and can show the receipts to prove it. Worth every penny. However I am also working on a RB240Z series 1. Simply because I found a good deal and thought why not. Upgrades on either car are simple enough. Stateside you have an option to get one I would. Body panels on the 2drs are easy enough to get and any competant body shop can fix rust / replace panels. Not having one when you could of had one will haunt you. But I am biased so take it for what it is worth. I have both but love only one.......
