hawaiiz
Update - Now looking the the 225/60r14s ALoha All - My New 280z z came with some pretty decent 14X7 rims. Always hard to decide on what tires and rims to get so I thought Id start out with the esiting rims and pickup some new rubber. The Big Island of Hawaii is a realy tough place to get stuff so aside from 195/70r14s I need to special order. Since we have a Costco I want to order the BFG Radial TA 215/60SR14. Im installing Iluminas, staying with stock springs, removing the huge bumpers and I d like to keep the stock height. So the Questions. What does my rim offset look like? http://picasaweb.google.com/cruzinit/ZRebuildWheels Id like my Z to look somthing like this one when done. PS Hope using your pic is OK. Will I have any problems with the wider 215s - "The 195s on it were way skinnny" - with these 14x7 rims. Thanks in advanced. HawaiiZ
Guest 280ZForce
if they are indeed 7" wide, the biggest you could throw on there is a 225 realistically. I've got 225s on my 16x7s, they have 0 offset and I dont have rubbing issues.
hawaiiz
Wel 225s would be great, Taking a look around the 225/50r14s would be good but not available on a street tire. I guess I could get some look into getting some rims. I like the Old school look - Im even going to put the white lettering on the outside. Im 39 and still skateboard - Old school skateboard tail only on one side, fat wheels, Yea Man. MORE I liik at the 225/60r14 the more im liking them. Now to see where I can get them from. veritech-z
Im 39 and still skateboard - Old school skateboard tail only on one side, fat wheels, Yea Man. That's so hard! I've still got a Powell & Peralta Mike McGill board that I break out every so often, with rail gaurds and extra wide Indies! I don't skate nearly as much or as hard as I did before I got the metal plate installed in my ankle, but I still enjoy it....27 years old now, and hope to be cruising on my board as long as you, man! het976
Just FYI...I have a set of 14x7s with 245-50 BFG and they fit with 1/4 spacers in rear and 1/2 in front. I put on longer wheel studs in front. I have fender flares, so not sure about the body to tire fit...but the 245s worked on all 4 wheels with stock, lowered suspension. Not sure of the offset on the wheel...at the time I did them (1977) there were very few affordable wheels wider than 6 inches. The ones I have are Appliance cast wire. The tires are still good, but must be close to 20 years old...

Brad-ManQ45
I just put some Western Cyclone II 14 x7's on my '83ZXT, with 235/60 and 215/60 tires. They fill the wheel wells nicely. I got the Firestone Indy 500's. I believe there is at least one other person running this setup (tires) on a 71-78 Z. You want 0 offset, like we both have.
