280zx/406sbc DONE !!!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys(and girls,if any)!!

Wheeew! Finnaly got my sh%t together and got my car rolling.

It sounds frikking great!

I have a few questions/comments.

So...,i put in a 406 sbc ( 485 horse/480 ftlbs torque)mated that to a T-56 tranny.

I used the stock clutch master with no problems. I read that I would have to change that. why?

Also used the stock rad, with electric fan(cyclone)that runs constantly as long as the ignition is on.

What is the widest tire I can put on the rear(16 by 7 inch rim)?

Congrats, I am so jealous I'm still weeks away. No clue on the clutch question but allowing that fan to run all the time will shorten the life of the fan. You should think about getting a contoller fo it.

im running the stock radiator with my 355 and it sucks, with a 180 deg thermostat im 190 minimum.. and in traffic 215 degree.... two electric fans never turn off... so im upgrading to a summit racing alumimum crossflow radiator for $165.

as far as the tires i had 245/60 on a 14x6 rim... now i have 265/35 on 18"

stock suspension, just had to roll the lip in the rear to fix the rubing

Dont know about the M/C my car is auto

Well, right now I have an old set of Yokohama A008r's. I cant keep the tires from lighting up,even in third !

Wanna go to the track this weekend and see how fast it is.

Can anyone tell me if a set of Mickey Thompson 255/60/16's will rub or not?

Thanks in advance,

Maximus

I have set of 245/40/17's on the rear of my ZX and they don't rub. The 245/45/17's I had on the rear did rub on occasion. Maybe that will help you with what will or will not fit.
