ArnZ
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150149263711&rd=1 I just bought a 78 Fairlady Z for $201.99. I really don't have the time for it right now, I am restoring my 75 Fairlady Z that I have owned since 1982. I don't know if it is a 2.0 or 2.8. anybody have any comments? It's rough and will probably be rougher in person. Thanks, Arnie

But If I owned a 280zx, that would be the one I wanted. Very unique.
olie05
what are your plans for this car? It almost looks beyond repair... *almost*
mrpratt
welcome to the RHD club, be prepared for ultimate frustration when you are trying to restore the interior lol. car looks like it will be a fun build.
ArnZ
I don't know what I'm gonna do with it. I am so overwhelmed with getting my 75 Fairlady Z going. I will have to wait and see how bad the rust is. If the pans and rails are OK, I may get it going. I don't think the dash will be as hard to find as my 75. I found a running 280ZX turbo that is pretty straight for $700 that I could swap parts. Anybody have a clue what engine it has? 2.0 ? 2.8 N47? mrpratt
i have a 75 fairlady too... what did you do for your dash with it?
ArnZ
I bought a dash from England for $130, $500 for shipping. It showed up cracked as hell. $630 dollars later I have two cracked RHD dashes. I have been looking for two years.......very discouraging. Does anybody know if the JDM 280zx has the "Datsun 280zx" rear badge. I know my 75 does not say Datsun anywhere http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x152/govsurplustrader/280ZX/P5040008.jpg The fenders have "Fairlady 280z" http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x152/govsurplustrader/280ZX/P5040004.jpg
EvilC
I swore there was a company that can recover dashes out in Cali... I knew it was expensive but def prob worth it if you can get two done and sell the other to recover some cash.

"Edit" Just found it. http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au/index.htm Now I do not feel alone having two cracked RHD dash assembly's. I do remember the JDM S130 Z's did not have the name plate "Datsun" anywhere on them.
ArnZ
Will they do RHD? Any idea how much? How is the quality? Anybody used them?
Sparky
They will restore RHD dashes, and even recover custom dashes should you want to add a few gauges or something similar, be prepared to spend 600$ for their services (the Australian company). nbesheer
That's pretty awesome. My dream is to drive a RHD car. But i don't think that is going to happen at all. Anyways. What my plans would have been would be to buy that and I would have for that little money and swap out all the cool rhd parts into a decent US 280zx. just my opinion, but cool find. ArnZ
It will be probably be rusted beyond repair, who knows for $200 I can get my money back out the parts , I hope. Does anybody have a clue about the engine?
e_racer1999
i'm pretty sure it's a 2.8, since they call it a fairlady280ZX, and not just a fairlday Z

The fenders say "Fairlady Z" I read somewhere that the JDM S130's received either a 2.0 or 2.8. It is probably not even the original engine. It looks like someone has played with the F.I? The guy said somebody slid it into a curb. Who really knows? They had to have been hauling ass.
