theianmonster
I thought I might as well join in and let everybody know about my project that I have going on. By the way, this is my drift car... A little background on the car. I bought the car for $900 last January, and spent a good amount of time getting it running, doing some mild suspension, fixing the brakes, and putting the air dam off of my old car on it. Specs: - Tokico Illumina Shocks - Eibach Pro-Spring Kit - Nismo T/C Kit - Nismo Steering Couplers - Long-nose R200 Rear Differential - Rear Sway Bar - BRE Hangers - Poly Bushings Here are some pictures before I tore the car apart: Then one day, after a few beers, my buddy convinced me to go for the 1JZ-GTE swap: Then I gave in again and did the S13 dash swap, not complete, obviously: And test fitted some 15x10 -38 Diamond Racing Wheels. I will be running the exact width and offset, but in a 16" rim: Here are the specs on my motor so far: - 1JZ-GTE from Toyota Chaser - W58 5-Speed (Came out of my friend's 1JZ powered MX83 Cressida, 400rwhp) - XTD Stage-3 Clutch - 2JZ-GE OEM Flywheel - OEM Flywheel Bolts - 2JZ-GE Bellhousing - MKIV Clutch Fork - 5M Starter - Megasquirt w/ 2-Step and Boost Cut I have the whole front of the motor to finish. I'll keep you guys updated. - Ian.
Gareth
Looks good, but don't you think that the car could use some bigger brakes? Stock brakes just won't cut it with a high-powered turbo engine...
Pete84
Nothing more terrifying than being on a winding mountian road with fading brakes . . . When you REALLY need to break for the next corner, and it is all downhill for several more miles. You going to use the swap directions from this sub-forum? Would be interesting to get some feedback, it looks very straight forward. Might get the earlier 1JZ with the TT's and call it a 2JZ Supra swap . . . . and get it smoged

ShaggyZ
sweet...dude. i'm planning on doing a 2jz into my 240z. i want to know if a 1jz tranny bolts onto a 2jz motor? Yes, but look around and you'll find some info on this. The short: R154 requires hard-to-find bellhousing; W58 is easy.
timbo1jz
the bellhousing is not hard at all to find. My friend sells them from his shop as do a lot of other shops. They are pricey though. Driftmotion.com

Driftmotion.com Right. I meant hard to find used. You can buy them new for under $400.
Z-Gad
Right. I meant hard to find used. You can buy them new for under $400. ... and that's cheaper than having to replace your first broken W58
ShaggyZ
... and that's cheaper than having to replace your first broken W58 Very true. Actually, the R154 I have now I basically got for free plus $150; plus, it came with a new stock clutch, shifter and driveshaft. Previously, I was looking at spending ~$700 for an ebay R154 with the way they sell there. I'd say I'm off to a good start on my budget build

theianmonster
Yes,this suspension will work fine. I was going to upgrade to custom Stance coilover set up. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SOLD. I never completed the project due to money issues. I'm sorry there haven't been updates. I WILL build a 1JZ 240Z in the future.
