PanzerAce
The stats: 1973 240Z 3.0L Rebello Engine ~250whp once I fix the throttle cable, which wont let it go WOT yet, which means that with only 10k on the engine that has never been taken ALL the way to the limit, I have a good car on my hands

Challenger
Sweet! Does that mean ~250hp at less than WOT?
Hybrid240z
Nice looking car. I see it has an Amsoil dual bypass filter setup. With that filter setup and Amsoil oil, the engine should be running good for a long time. I use Amsoil products in my vehicles and seriously recommend them. cygnusx1
Wow, that is the second Z that's in my dreams. Sweet and simple and probably sounds like a classic Ferrari.
PanzerAce
Sweet! Does that mean ~250hp at less than WOT? nah, right now it makes about 220whp. 250whp is what I should be getting once I adjust the throttle cable and actually go WOT. The guy that I bought it from said that it could run upwards of 20k miles on amsoil oil with that dual filter setup. Is that really true? OlderThanMe
I wouldn't... Change it every 3k miles like normal.
TONY C
^^^ yeah yeah. oil is cheap. that motor is not.
Globerunner513
Actually it is true. However, on any car I value, changing the oil ever 3k miles with good synthetic and a good filter is the way I will go. I don't know much about that "double filter" setup, but I do know of a filter they make that is in fact good to around the mileage you mentioned. But you HAVE to run synthetic that is rated for that much mileage, and even then...well I wouldn't do it. *I used to work at a couple different Lube shops, and have heard all the oil myths. some are scary...* Similarly, never run long lasting synthetic oil without a good filter. Doesn't matter how long the oil is said to go, if the filter isn't any good after 3k miles, the oil will follow in close pursuit. Anyway don't think that helps this topic much, so in light of that....NICE CAR!! seriously, thats a beautiful find. I guess I'm a sucker for blue. PanzerAce
Beautiful car, but do you actually have dyno numbers to back that up? It was dynod when the engine was installed at about 210, and that was when the dyno hadn't been fully calibrated and was reading low. I'll probably dyno it sometime during the summer after I fix stuff up for a new number.
PanzerAce
arg...anyone know where the emergency flasher unit is actually located? I can hear it somewhere under the passenger dash, but it is a rat's nest in there, and I couldn't find it with my flashlight. I need to see if my turn flasher is the flasher unit or the switch itself that is busted :-/
