dlouis7
Has anyone done anything with a 3.8l regal supercharger? they are very cheap in the jy.
TrumpetRhapsody
Hey! Careful calling those cheap! I've got one. They're not terribly efficient, but you can get aftermarket stuff to swap pulleys and increase boost. You can even get a modular pulley system to dial it down for streetability/adjustability. Check out 3800performance.com and Intense-racing.com to name a few. I know i've seen someone around here using an eaton IIRC. I recall seeing a pic of one mounted on some crazy custom fabricated mount, it was pretty cool!

janaka
If I was going to use a 3.8 Series II L67 (supercharged motor in regal, grand prix, bonneville, monte) I would probably just turbo the thing instead. 8.4:1 with a nice turbo kit will make north of 400whp all day long at around 15psi and a FMIC. I used to own a turbo grand prix and it was a blast. Previous to going turbo I had it supercharged, small pulley, W/A IC, headers, LS1 TB, headers etc etc and the torque was silly The eaton M90's are inefficient though, they generate a LOT of heat when they are spinning with small pullies. I would almost say it wouldn't be worth doing with out an IC setup of somesort to get the intake temps in line. That was my favorite car till I got the Z... i still miss the GP though
mtcookson
I wouldn't recommend an M90 for a V8... they're a little too small. Yes, you can make some more power with one but the smallest I would recommend for a V8 would be an M112... especially if you're wanting to put it on a 350. The supercharged Ford Cobra uses an M112 and that is only a 4.6 liter engine... just imagine how much strain that little M90 is going to be put through to supply a 5.7 liter. It'll do it, but it will likely be putting out tons of heat in the process.
dlouis7
yep, that was really my question, could you make it work for a 5.7? i would really save me some money.
Six_Shooter
Look up Saturn5 on thirdgen.org. He used a pair on a 305 with good results.
SHO-Z
Here is a quick calc for supercharges ((Super Charger Disp * Ratio * 14.7)/1/2 Eng Displacement) - 14.7 = Boost Pressure The max RPM on the supercharges is 14K which would give you about a 2.8 ratio or about 4.5 lbs of boost and about a 90 hp. That'd definitely be the best way to do use M90's on a large displacement V8.
