M3This
Hey guys I tried asking over on some of the 240sx forums and didnt get a warm welcome about this, so I thought I would ask here. Anyone familar with this swap? Anyone have any info on Hinson Super Cars? http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/ One guys on Zilvia.net said "I know people sponsored by Hinson that have sent their Hinson ♥♥♥♥ back because it sucked so bad by the way." Is it really heavier then the KA it replaces? If so how much? The Hinson site says its 128lbs lighter but people told me thats a lie, but they where not able to tell me the real weights. Thanks for any help in advance!
rudypoochris
I doubt it will be 128lbs lighter... With X-Member the KA24DE "drivetrain" weighs 540lb according to: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0309scc_engine_swap_nissan_240sx/index.html On the scale, here is a 370lb recording w/o flywheel/clutch. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/299879 Chevrolet claimed the LS1/LS6 was ~457lb with automatic setup (flexplate), ~497lb with manual setup (flywheel... clutch included?). You may lose weight if you eliminate the cross-member or something of the sort, but straight swap, probably not. At the same time though... your picking up 150hp minimum... SSflyer
I saw an LS1 240SX at Extreme Motorsports in Tempe when my car was in for a dyno tune. The workmanship wasn't the best I've ever seen, but in general it looked like a factory installation. Plenty of room for the engine, and I heard it was wicked fast. RedEvilrps13
lol no warm welcome? probably cause you didnt search. there's a V8 240SX FAQ thread on Zilvia with all the info you need. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=105615&highlight=FAQ if you still cant get your answer there, PM a guy names Blu808 on zilvia. he knows more about that swap then most people ever will and yeah people on zilvia prefer that you search before posting. have a nice day
rudypoochris
I am pretty sure their weight is wrong... 468lbs for LS1 w/ T-56. Doubtful... That means the LS1 weighs at a maximum 350lbs. Thats just not true. http://www.vorshlag.com/documents/LS1_weight.jpg?osCsid=247b2dd45ee0e1f6ed5cf862cfbb6424 LS1, total dressed engine mass (dry) 497lb for a T-56 setup... Lightest T-56 is 108lbs according to http://www.ttcautomotive.com I could understand the weight being a little off, but they are saying the engine plus trans weighs less than the engine does dry according to Chevrolet.
