rytherwr
Hey folks, waiting for my down-pipes and wastegate pipes to get back from Jet-Hot and thought I would provide an update on the hotrod. Had to put some new sneakers on...couldn't begin to get traction even with the M&H's..I think a lot of that had to do with the 4.11 gears so I changed them out to 3.50's and a spool. As much street driving as I do, I can deal with the scrubbing on the occasional corner. Went to a 31" tall MT ET Street w/about 12.5" on the ground. Took the whale tail off...and will smooth that out. Had to replace the air dam as I crashed into the front of the trailer last year on the way to Reynolds and cut the other one off. I had to section the dam about 2.5 inches as that is how much the wide body adds in the front. Standard air dam doesn't fit. As you can see, decided to do a modified L-88 hood with bulges on each side to clear the turbo's. It's pretty ugly right now, however it will be ok once finished and painted. Also in the midst of installing my alcohol injection, AFR system, electronic boost control and boost gauges so plenty to keep me busy and no time to do it....Always the same, ain't it? True to form, I will probably be working on this thing right up through Sat morning on the way to Reynolds...) Wayne

Z-Gad
Wayne, you'll love the 3.50's compared to the 4.11's in a turbo car!! That car IS beastly
cockerstar
I absolutely love your car man The hood doesn't look bad at all! Did you consider doing a full fiberglass replacement?
deja
I think the last minute thing is like Hot rod law! Looking good Wayne, I'm going to need the industrial strength ear plugs to shoot upclose video of that thing!
rytherwr
WOW! Thanks for the kudo's. Let's see if I can respond to these in the correct sequence: Jerry: I think you are right...the thrash is on! I always look forward to seeing you guys. Z-Gad: I screwed up...if I had asked you before, I would already have known to go to the other gears. FYI, I just watched your 8.91 Orlando video last night..keeps me motivated! Cockerstar: Yes, I did, however, a deal fell through and I was running out of time, so decided to go this way for now. If I like the result, I may see if I can use this one as a form and have someone make me a fiberglass one...time will tell. Deja: Thank you Sir...actually, this thing sounds like a cadillac now...exhaust running through the turbos then 3" to Dynomax straight-throughs...very quiet. Warren
Looking great Wayne. Sounds like you have gone all out yet again. I too am in the crunch, as I'm having to do my exhaust system myself, by hand, pie cutting 3" mandrel bends and all that. The exhaust shop that was supposed to be doing it for me yesterday, ended up closing forever last week, spur of the moment. Luckily, I have some bends and whatnot, but what a pain to do with the car on jackstands and not on a lift. Oh well, that's what I get for procrastinating and not getting it there 2 weeks ago. Lookin forward to seeing you ALL at the DNI Shootout. Response to the event has been GREAT, although to look at the forum site, you'd never know it. It's advertised on about 20 other forums right now and theres talk about it from all over the country. Should be a GREAT turnout...probably gonna be the largest event yet. Definitely gonna be one of the most interesting with all the competitive cars showing up. Hopefully we can all get our stuff done and have a GREAT time. jnjdragracing
Wayne, John put the motor in yesterday,we met up today and talked about what needs to happen next. John hooked up the new FAST system and it looks really cool. We will be finishing up the loose ends this week and hope to smell smoke by the weekend. We can't wait!! The only bad thing is that our Dyno Guy Chris Tuten is leaving the speed shop. He is going to work with his Brother Brian and they are buying a Dyno but it will not be ready for several weeks. I feel quiet sure we(or mostly John) will get things worked out by March 16th. Jerry
rytherwr
Wow! Jerry, I'm impressed! Going uptown with the FAST system, I see. From everything I read and hear, that will do anything you want it to do. Bummer about the dyno, however, I believe you and John have the experience and intestinal fortitude to have it sorted out by the 16th. Best of luck to you. Took the hot-rod out for a shake-down cruise yesterday and save for a couple of leaks, it runs well. Z-Gad was right, the motor is much happier with the 3.50 gears. Only made a couple of short power runs and I'm impressed. Only running 6 lbs of boost until I get all the gauges hooked up so I can see what the AFR and timing look like, but no strange noises at the moment.
