srbigbutt
I seen some nice setups for Camaro's and other cars. And not just to slam the car to the ground. Supposedly they were for race setups. It would be interesting.
KimZee
I've never heard of air ride for race set ups; only for show.. I wouldn't touch it either way :-
atomflatz
Praxis by bridgestone is an air suspension for racing: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/features_classic_cars/praxis_air_suspension_tech_stuff Although I think he meant airbags for lowriding
Oddmanout84
lowrider Z? Ewwwwww.....
srbigbutt
Lowriders are not the only cars using airbags. A lot of Hot Rods are using them. They are basically just like coilovers but you don't have to get out of the car to raise or lower your car. Here is a nice link to a company that specializes in performance air ride setups. http://www.ridetech.com/
getZ
I've been eyeing that setup for my 73 z28 (actualy it's really an RS), but that whole setup is very expensive. It's supposedly does the best of both worlds, comfort and handling. For my camaro it's bolt in, but involves changing upper control arms and taking out the whole rear suspension. Also it can change ride height at the flick of a switch, but the whole setup runs about 5 grand. It's cool, but out of my price range. JMortensen
This has come up before. Here is one thread I found searching "airbag". There were quite a few more, but a lot had to do with SRS airbags, not suspension. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106709
mrw
Jon, Thanks for the thread. I will post an update when when I get further on. ODDMANOUT84 AND TURBOBOOST should read the thread and understand the advantages of air bag suspension. The technology has been improving over the last few years and I hope to find a way to make it work.
tube80z
How do you figure out spring rate with air bags? None of these sites mention this simple fact for their systems, or at least I can't find it. Cary
zedevan
www.boundlessrider.com i have heard they have a track car fitted out with at set, but haven't looked into it at all. how they work is very cool! watch the videos under "about us"
Tombarace14
Spring rate with air is very progressive, Ill find the Sport compact issue that has the figures. From personal exp. on my altima, it handles better than the factory struts and springs. But dealing with the leaks and up keep it becomes a major PITA.
