J240ZTurbo
I lost my haynes manual can someone please tell me what's the torque on my l28et turbo head bolts/stubs? I'm using a 1mm metal head gasket.
hughdogz
My Haynes manual says: Cylinder Head Bolts..............55 ft-lb or 7.5 m-kg I just got my ARP studs today, and that is 60 ft*lb using their assembly lube. It is interesting, according to their website, ~80% of the torque is used by simply overcoming the friction of the threads...
Rustyfriend
Isn't there 3 stages to achieve max torque? I don't have my manual handy, but I thought it was like 20, 40, then max? Those numbers are probably off, but I was certain the manual said 3 stages.
jc052685
just ball park the stages, you should be fine. I usually do like 15-40-

nismopick
I just got my ARP studs today w00t!!! You'll never go back to bolts. I was smiling during the whole installation of mine. I think I even let out a few cackles.
ezzzzzzz
I was heading towards studs until ARP quoted me $1029 for a custom set of 14! I'm resigned to 12.9 12mm socket head bolts for my L6 project. Studs definately have their advantages. In our Z's installing/removing the head with studs is easy. That isn't the case in many other applications. jeffer949
Why did you need a custom set?? They make a set for the L6
hughdogz
Exactly!! I got mine from the local Baxters. They were ~$145 and they said they price matched Summit for me. P/N 202-4206

rwdawg2
Not to high jack a thread or anything, but where can you get metal head gaskets these days. I tried to order one from thezstore.com but they told me there weren't getting any in till June at the earliest. I was planning on having the car done by the end of July so that would set me back a ton. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
