bryand2 Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 hey guys i have a 76 280z and i wanna replace the tranny but why bother replacing the stock one if i can upgrade, i want something really reliable, thinking z31, but i dont know if there is a moutning plate for z31 to L28 block, anyone have any suggestions for an upgraded tranny? In short it can go into an S30 with a modified tranny mount and driveshaft, you use the S30 5 Speed housing on the 240sx gearbox. I thought you were talking about HP but if you are talking about gearing the 240sx 5 Speed is much better for cruising at highway speeds then the Z 5 Speed. It said with the 240zx tranny it should max out around 170ish...does that sound right to you? maybe im typing in something wrong whenever i do it i was just wondering does anyone know from experience. What rear end ratio, tire diameter and RPM are you entering? Regardless of what it says, having the horsepower to reach the given speed is another matter altogether...
