z2go
I'm looking for the general opinion on what to use for body filler, and just as importantly, what to avoid. What are your opinions? I was thinking about POR-15 epoxy putty for its ease of use and durability, but at $120 for six pounds, is it overkill? I don't have a ton of body work to do, parking lot dings and dents mostly. I am not a fan of cutting corners, and I'm definitely willing to pay for quality, but I don't want to splurge where I should be spending wisely. Bartman
I used Evercoat Rage Gold, and it was easy to work with and I got very good results.
MAG58
I've used evercoat and 3M stuff. I like both quite a bit, though if I know I wont be able to sand it within about an hour or two of using it i'll use 3m. Evercoat makes a great product but it gets very hard and difficult to shape easily after about an hour in my opinion. Though I do think that Evercoat does give a better finished product. 78zlt1
I have had good luck with Marsons Platinum. Its smooth and sands easily.
jgautosport
I used Evercoat rage Xtreme and Evercoat Easy Sand with great results. The Quantum Stuff I didn't like. Whichever ratio i mixed it never really set right. Always stayed tacky. Maybe bad catalyst, I dunno
benitoz
top 2 where I go is zgrip and rage gold edit* (extreme) and get some honey(Its like fiberglass resin) to smooth it a bit more =)
Megatherion
I used rage extreme, a little expensive but I'm happy with the results, very easy to sand, even with wet sandpaper.
Derek
Another vote for rage extreme. Lays out well, high degree of self leveling, sands easily. Derek
junglist
I bought myself some Evercoat Rage Extreme. I previously used some filler that was made/sold by my local auto body supply place Matto's and it worked pretty well, sanded easily. junglist
You're blowing my mind. How does that work? http://www.eastwood.com/usc-all-metal-gallon.html - some explanation there. I've never worked with it, but I've considered buying it too.
zxtman
You're blowing my mind. How does that work? It works just like any other body filler except it's a little more difficult to sand and it's waterproof. I've used it for small jobs: dings & rust repair. It works great. I buy it by the quart here: http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/usc-all-metal-premium-aluminum-filled-auto-body-filler-p-14787.aspx
ruleofthez
Generally speaking most if not all people will say that rage gold is best. I found that feather-rite is good to use as well and only $15 a gallon http://www.shopmaninc.com/polyprod.html
