B00STDZ
I was wondering if there is a way to modify the stock brace rather than buying the shiny Arizona z car product. Could spacers be used to extend the brace out for use of the finned cover? Redrill? What have some of you guys done.
Darrel
have a welder and 1 1/2 square tubing handy? Search on zcar for "lsd brace" for pics and dimensions.

Nigel
There are simpler designs out there, but this was the first structural welding I've done, so I made it extra beefy. It looks like it's bent in this picture, but it's just an illusion... Test fit... It turned out to be a handy place to mount the fuel pump and pre-filter. The pump is almost level with the bottom of the tank to help with fuel pick up. Nigel '73 240ZT
heavy85
If you look at the stock crossmember and mine really close you will see what I did. Hint - it uses 100% of the stock crossmember plus just a little extra. I had to slightly trim a couple of the fins but not enough to make a difference. You need bar stock to make the part you're thinking of. I saw a pic of it earlier I'll try to dig it up.

Really? What part am I thinking of? Could it be the pic of the part in my above post? Maybe I'm calling the material wrong, but it is plenty beefy enough. And in the parts in this pic? Of course I am using the stock rear crossmember, then cutting out what I don't need.
