72240Z
That is a generic picture on there web site. The strut looks just like the one in my car. The only difference is one of the sockets is at a slight angle,it doesn't affect its operation and you don't notice it. I will take a picture tomorrow when I work on the floors. 72240Z
I'm so glad it worked. This is the first time I haven't had to use a stick since 1998 when I bought the car.
1 tuff z
did you have to mod the part for it to fit properly? can you post the brand name and part number for us here. i'd like to cross reference the 'tuff support' brand found on rock auto. they run around $12 each... thanks
72240Z
It's a Strong Arm part #4313 It came with replacement mounting studs but I reused the old ones. I didn't have to do any mods but it may have been replaced before.
jhm
Update on an older topic.... I replaced the hatch struts in my car with similar product. Strong Arm lift support (P.N. 4777) on eBay...."http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230563336866&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3AOU%3AUS%3A1123". Turned out to be a good product at a good price from a great vendor. Had them on my doorstep TWO DAYS after ordering! Really made a difference, compared to my old worn-out struts. They worked OK until I installed a BRE spoiler; after which they were completely incapable of holding the hatch up. The new struts do a great job popping the hatch up when opening, and pulling it shut when closing. All mounting hardware was included, and it was of decent quality. Highly recommend to anyone else with weak hatch struts!
darom
I replaced both on my 76 with these struts. Unfortunately they were so stiff that I couldn't close the hatch without considerable effort or breaking the mounts. I ended up keeping my old strut with a new one. 72240Z
darom if you used Strong Arm part #4313 it is for a 240Z that only has 1 strut and is to strong for a 280 with 2 struts. The post above you had a different part # for the 280.
darom
I installed struts part number 4777, the same as jhm's. I wish the vendors would come up with a system to designate their load capacity.
