What is this V8 donor worth?

Recommended Posts

This thread is to help others and myself to see where the market is on complete donors and the LS2/T56 combo. I have done three donors complete but this is going back a few years ago. I had two LS1 Camaros (98 & 02) and a LS1 Trans Am (98). I am going after a 2005 GTO next week at the auctions with 42k miles. Here are a few pics of the car:

I am hoping to get the car in the $5k-$5.5 range. I should be able to pull back in $2-$3k on parts. Of course I am planning on keeping the engine/trans/ecu and gas pedal. Anyone else buy a LS2 setup lately?

That one looks repairable and if you were lucky enough to get it, I'd fix it and sell it!!

My buddy just purchased a 2006 GTO that was a flood car to do an LS2 swap into his 94 RX7. The car was almost brand new went it rolled into the Connecticut River. The car only had 2k miles and he purchased it for $7500. The car had no body damage. Your car has 42k miles so I think your estimate of aroun $5-5.5k seems right but mayber closer to $6k.

Right now he is trying to sell the shell as a whole and he will be getting about $3k for it. There is a ctually a guy in Texas who buys flood cars and guts the electrical with a wrecked car. He said he doesn't need anything inside the car just the bare shell.

Looks like we'll be breaking out the sawzall to get the motor out if you end up with the red one

Anyone know where the ECU is stored on these?

It is on the LF strut tower. You can see it on the last red car pic just behind the air box.

.. hmmm would the[y] fit a z ;)

No they don't...too wide.

In 2008 paid $5200 for this 2005 GTO pick-up and got an amazing $2500 back from unwanted parts on eBay. I kept items like the dbw throttle pedal and even the diff which I have installed in my S30. Every item forward of the engine is soughtafter.
