The later model ones won't work on my adapter brackets, I have brackets from a Maxima wagon so I need the earlier calipers

Bought some from a member on here a while back for my rear disc swap, they ended up being the late model calipers. Needing a pair PRONTO. Text me at 918-348-2921 Working condition please

'78 280z rear wheel bearings
ComicArtist replied to ComicArtist's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well, just ordered everything. Ordered RW116 (inner bearings) from AutoZone for $24.99 apiece. Ordered RW117 (outer bearings) from eBay, they were half the price that they were at AutoZone. Ordered the inner bearing grease seals from the local Nissan dealership, just to ensure that I got the right part number. The AutoZone guy didn't know what he was talking about, and all the eBay listings were misleading. Here's the prices if anyone is interested: AutoZone: RW116 - $24.99 RW117 - $59.99 eBay: RW116 - $30 - $90 apiece RW117 - $$30 apiece Nissan: 43232 e4100 - $18 for both sides. Total cost in all was around $130 for all brand new parts, using Timken part numbers. Who knows what will actually come in the box. Thanks for all the help guys! -
'78 280z rear wheel bearings
ComicArtist replied to ComicArtist's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Still, if I order the Timken part numbers from AutoZone, will the parts that I get, regardless of manufacturer, fit on my s30 and not blow up in 500 miles? -
'78 280z rear wheel bearings
ComicArtist replied to ComicArtist's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Found some on RockAuto, but they only had one left for inners. AutoZone actually can get the Timken part number for me for about $25 apiece! Looks like I'll be going through them. How is Timken as far as quality? -
'78 280z rear wheel bearings
ComicArtist replied to ComicArtist's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I found the skf number grw-116 is apparently the inner bearing, and 117 is apparently the outer. Can anyone verify this? What is the rw101 for? -
Can't find part numbers for SKF inners anywhere. Found a listing on eBay but I'm not sure if its legit or not. Anyone know if the 280zx uses different rear bearings? Finding lots of them but none for 280z's. Thank you!

Really wanting a pair of these in working condition. I'll buy them straight up or I also have a pair of s12+8 calipers, so if you have a set of W calipers and want to keep your stock rotors, I'll trade straight across. Text me at 918-348-2921 or message me on here

Rears pretty much bolt up, fronts have to be welded into the spindle

Needing '79 - '81 rear calipers. Loaded would be awesome, preferably not needing a rebuild or anything. Hit me up on here or text me at 918-348-2921

Just learned this the hard way. Picked up a set of Toyota 4-runner calipers that were marked s12+8, and being under the impression that all these calipers required vented z31 rotors and machined hub spacers, I bought rotors and spacers. Went to put them together and the calipers ended up being for stock rotors. I always thought that the calipers marked s12 were for stock rotors, and the s12+8 and s12w calipers fit vented rotors, but apparently not! Just a heads up to you unsuspecting buyers. I haven't seen this in any writeups before, and now I'm either stuck with rotors and spacers I can't use or calipers I can't use.

Whats my ideal master cylinder size
ComicArtist replied to BitchinZ's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You should either A: keep your stock MC and sell me your Wilwood or B: use the 15/16ths and sell me your Wilwood Like they're saying, the Wilwood isn't going to be overkill but for a simple rear disc upgrade, there won't be much of a braking difference without doing a front upgrade. Like they're saying, rear discs are more of a convenience and cosmetic upgrade than performance. Rear discs don't really require any more pressure to activate than the stock drums. Either way, you should sell me your Wilwood. For realz -
eBay brake rotors
ComicArtist replied to ComicArtist's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I believe that's just a universal item photo, all their brake rotor listings have that picture. Just wondered if anyone's had problems with them warping or anything -
About to do a rear disc conversion on my '78, already have the 810 wagon brackets, which SHOULD let me use the early ZX rotors and calipers. Can't find any at the local junkyards so I'm just going to go ahead and order new ones. However, I'd just like confirmation from those that have done it before that it IS the early calipers/rotors I need and not the late ones. Also, has anyone had any luck with these eBay rotors? $77 for drilled/slotted rotors doesn't seem bad from what I've seen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Premium-Performance-DRILLED-SLOTTED-BRAKE-ROTORS-REAR-SS-42014-/150673320387?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A280ZX&hash=item2314d469c3&vxp=mtr

I've been searching for this all day with no luck. I know there are the Modern Motorsports and Silvermine spacers available, but apparently Ross is hard to get ahold of and the Silvermine spacers are made in such small quantities that they have to price them really high to cover overhead costs. Anyway, I have access to a machine shop to build my own spacers, but I can't find the dimensions anywhere. I thought I'd seen them around here somewhere, but I still can't find them. I have a pair of S12+8 calipers, vented '84 Z31 rotors, and they're going on my '78 280z. I've heard everything from 3/8" to 1/2", depending on whether they're going on a 240z or a 280z. Also, are they a 4x114.3 bolt spacing? Or is the bolt pattern on the hub different? Sorry for the questions, I usually don't ask for this much but I've had no luck at all today.

Aggressive fitment for zg-flares?
ComicArtist replied to Jimmy's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Wheel width doesn't affect the ease of steering, it's the tire contact patch that matters. I'm running a 205/50 with about -4 or -5 camber so my steering feels fine. -
I still daily my 280, through the snow and slush too. Frame rails are about 17mm from the ground now, and my exhaust dumps right under the seat. I haven't noticed any excess fumes or anything and I feel fine when I drive my car.

Aggressive fitment for zg-flares?
ComicArtist replied to Jimmy's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
That's a 15x10, -38 and -25 with 205/50 Falkens. I'm not really that into Diamond's, but they're pretty much the only wheel you can get in those sizes for under 2 grand. My next set of wheels is going to be epic.
