Just wrapping up a vg30e swap in an '84 Z31, finally got the swap wrapped up, has spark and fuel pressure, but I don't think the injectors are firing. Which fuse or relay controls the injector fire? Pretty unfamiliar with z31's, I'm more of an S30 guy. Thanks!

Mr.Vengeance's 71 S30-240Z Shakotan Obake
ComicArtist replied to VenomousType's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
That's actually the exact same size I'm about to order from Diamond Racing..... are they new? Color? I'm down. -
Boso pipes are where its at. I think it needs to stick out a little farther though lol. And the car needs to be about 6 inches lower.....

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels

Guy on Stance:Nation shopped Hayashi's on here for me. Diameter is too big, but I think they'd look good in a 15" with flares. -
Megan coilover ride height
ComicArtist replied to nissun1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Unless you have top hats that extend the shock travel, screwing down the preload will cause the shock to be compressed at that ride height, putting more stress on it and causing it to blow out faster. That's not something I'd reccomend unless you have custom tophats. Or something to extend the shock travel. -
In the very first sentence of that, it states that no modification that enhances performance or STYLING will be put down. Lowering a car and putting it on wheels is considered styling in my book. Not all of us want to race our cars, some of us just want to drive them and apply certain STYLES to them. I see this site as more of a modification-friendly site. There's a reason why, when a person asks a modification-oriented question on Zcar.com, they are referred to HybridZ. I understand that some people don't want to see it. I also don't see a reason why we can't just get along and enjoy Z cars. That's why we're all here. When a person modifies a car, they're putting part of their personality into that car, and it becomes more than a hunk of metal on wheels. So if we can't accept people for who they are, we gotta problem.

If you ordered them new from Megan, can't you just contact them and tell them you got the wrong ones? -
I understand that it appears that I'm putting Dizzy Gillespie in with your Queensryche, but I fail to see how I'm giving subjective examples. IF HybridZ is only to be saturated with SBC swapped S30's on Ground Controls (Queensryche, in other words), does that mean I shouldn't participate? I understand completely where you're coming from, but as a fellow S30 owner, I like to see what other people do to their S30's as well, no matter how our tastes may differ. I understand that my tastes may differ greatly from the majority of the members on this site, but I hoped that as we are all Z car owners, we could participate in unison without unrest. I refrain from name-calling and starting trouble, and I hoped that while everyone is free to voice their opinion, I wouldn't be harshly judged for mine. That's simply how I saw it.

I'm inclined to think that either they DID send you S14 coils, or there was somehow a mistake in the installation, because even though Megan's aren't the lowest of the low, they SHOULD go much lower than that. -
Bear with me. I believe that functionality is a beautiful thing. If your car is a car built soley for the purpose of function, then it should by all means, meet those requirements, the 'stance' not mattering in this situation. However, if you're into 'stance', the 'function' aspect of your build shouldn't matter as much. Yes, I'm into stance. I enjoy seeing cars lowered, set on wide wheels with stretched tires that come to the fenders. I just like the way it looks. I think it's beauty in another art form. Because it can be done right, and it can be done wrong. And a lot of people aren't into that. They see no reason why my tires rub the fender when I hit a bump. They'll say, your car would perform much better if you raised it up and put different tires on it. I'll use another analogy. As an artist and a musician, I frequently see this. Someone will look at an abstract painting, and not see the purpose. They see a mass of jumbled lines and shapes, and are instantly horrified that this is what some people call art. Some people listen to certain genre's of music, such as metal or rap, and can't understand it. They say that music has been reduced to garbage, and is in no way an art form. On the other hand, some people understand and relate to the things I've listed. 'Function' is in the eye of the beholder, and the purpose for which the car was built. The purpose, or the function, of my daily, is to look low and wide. It has a basically stock L28, which is reliable and gets good gas mileage. The ride, while stiffer than stock, is comfortable. I also have a track car, which happens to be a Miata. The purpose of this car is to drift. Consequently, it has a functional 'drift' stance, which makes it perform better on the track. It's not 'slammed' or 'hellaflush', in some people's eyes, but it gets the job done. That's why it's hard for me to cast my vote on something like this. Because they EACH HAVE THEIR PLACE, and that's what a lot of close-minded people have a hard time getting through their head. For anyone interested, I am a 20 year old college student, I consider myself to be intelligent and well read. I like good grammar, and it annoys me to no end when people fail to capitalize properly and use correct punctuation. However, in the 'stance' scene, there are certain slang terms that have their purpose as well. I don't need to list any, as I think you can all recognize what I'm talking about. I hope that this hasn't bored all of you too much, and I hope that you've had the interest and patience to read all of what I've had to say. When I first saw HybridZ.org, I recognized it as a place where a person's creation could deviate from the norm, and not stick to the same old pattern that has been repeated over and over with these beautiful cars. Where people can combine elements of auto technology and style, and create a masterpiece that, to them, was unlike any other Z out there. For some people, that may be a SBC on stock suspension; for others it could be an RB25 in a slammed S30. Either way, forgive me if I was wrong in assuming that this was a friendly community where people could share their ideas and opinions based around Z cars. I've learned a lot on this site, but if my ideas are no longer welcome then I can go elsewhere. Best regards, Ben Gibson.

Megans don't go low. -
I actually have tons of access to s13's. However, I hate different taillights on S30's. If you DO attempt this, use Kouki tails instead of the *** USDM ones.

As far as sitting on the rear axle, I think a BMW Z4 is probably going to be closest to that feel.

I've got a brake ducted S30 Xenon urethane air dam. I'd like to trade it for a non vented one. If you're interested, hit me up. I'd prefer a non-fiberglass one.

The only thing I've seen comparable to the handling of an S30 is a Miata. Never driven an NC more than 20mph, but I'm sure an NB is very comparable. I've driven my NA extremely hard and love the way it feels, but it's not right for what I'm wanting to do with it.

Almost embarassed to post these hellasunk pictures. Hopefully in a few weeks I can order wheels and flares.

^ That's whats UP. You, sir, have good taste. Just checked out your blog as well. Suspension specs?

There's one of these threads on another forum I'm on, so I figured I'd get one started on here. Post up pictures of your shift knob, where you got it, what its called, dimensions, whether you like it or not, etc. I'll start it off with mine. JDM bubble shift knob, 150mm. Idk about the weight for sure but it's pretty heavy. I'm definitely cutting the shifter down about 4 inches and rethreading it, because it feels like I'm shifting in a semi with the extra six inches of shift knob. Love the way it feels though, plus it's got that JDM appeal. White wood wheel is on it's way from JDM-land as well.

what tires are you guys running for 15x10?
ComicArtist replied to skib's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'm planning on running 205's front and 215 or 225 rear when I get my 15x10s. Anything wider than that on a 10 is overrated. -

^ I'm not a believer in ground controls. For that matter, I'm not a fan of any coilover that doesn't have separate height and preload adjustments. -

^Looks AMAZING! Reverse Mesh are where it's at. Needs to be just a TAD lower though, to barely tuck those tires. -
Yes sir, all stock. I have camber plates but haven't installed them yet. I'm still on the Honda tophats.
