    NVCS adaptor

the hoses, left to right: oil supply from block, to head, return to block, where the oil dip stick was located.

    NVCS oil supply

just bihind the filter mount, I fond 1/8PT (Japanese pipe thread) plug. The 1/8PT to -4AN adaptor has got 1mm ID restrictor in it.
  3. more pics. 996GT3 optional seats and AIM MXL Pista. Seat position is little too high, though. Kazu
  4. nice work!! When I saw the thread someone was going to put the BMW V12 in 240z, l thought nobody would. chelle, where are you going to put oil tank? My project is on the way to put RB26 in 240z and the engine will be run with dry sump system because RB26 tends to blow much blow by gas and oil. One good place I would like to put the tank is where the battery was located. But the space does not seem to be enough, mine is not stretched in this area. So only available area is under the tailgate. I worry it may too far from the pump. KAZU
  5. people complain about less low end torque of RB26DETT than RB25DET. RB25s have got NVCS on intake cam. benefit: stable idle with NVCS off (lobe center angle around 115) low end torque with NVCS on (advanced to 95, much overlap) high end power with NVCS off (retarded back to 115, less overlap) -- Kazu

    NVCS system

NVCS ON: intake valve timing is advanced 20 and 30 degrees, in DET and DE engine, respectively.
  7. Oil pressure is supplied from 1st cam holder, then the oil flow int the cam which has groove and hole at the 1st cam holder. I'll need intake cam machined to fit ID of the cam gear or a RB25NEO camshaft.
  8. cylindrical contains oil pressure triggered cam timing advance device.

    NVCS solenoids

up front is from RB25DET NEO (R34 Skyline) and the other is from RB25DE(T) (R33). The system is defferent from each other. I chose NEO system

    RB26 NVCS

external oil supply for NVCS. Drilled 10mm 36mm depth, aluminium oil plug was put to clear the oil hole at the 1st cam holder, then tap 1/4 NPT

    RB26 oil plug removed

the plug is made of Aluminium. just drilll and tap smaller than the plug then pull it.

    1mm olifice

RB26 block has a oil plug at the passenger side, just behind the oil filter. the tap size is not 1/8 NPTbut 1/8PT (Japanese standard). I got 1/8PT to -3 adaptor and 1mm oil olifice was put in it.
  15. I agree with you by theoritically. Another reason if the adjustable cam gear is lotated, genuine sensor shaft is also lotated, then the sensor doesn't know anymore where TDC is. But I wonder why I've never seen a crank triggered spark RB in Japan. It seems difficult for me to put tooth wheel on the Nissan crank pulley because pulley is bigger than tooth wheel I have. Does anyone have pics tooth wheels on pulley? Thanks.
  16. Hi, I'm new to the RB26 swap. I've just got a bare engine, no harness. I have a DTA P8Pro with l28 in my 240z right now. Wiring modification for RB turbo itself isn't so hard for me but one thing: Nissan crank/camshaft angle sensors are quite unique. I don't think most of the aftermarket ECU can be connected with the sensor. So, what setup are you guys using? 1.genuine nissan harness and nissan ECU 2.SDS crank sensor with a trigger magnet on the crank pulley 3.modified nissan crank/camshaft sensor to get ritht signals for your aftermarket ECU I'd rather do 3 but i'm not sure it can be done. Thank you in advance.
  17. hi guys i've been absent here for a while. i've moved to Japan with my 240z. BTW I'm just going to do the swap. i have RB20 tranny and I ordered modified front case and rear member yesterday. in short, the front case of 240z tranny can be bolt on the RB20 tranny with some modification. you can find some pics by google search with keywords, '71c RB site:jp'. unfortunately the RB20DET tranny is not so strong (someone rated 400 ps). R33 Type M RB25DET tranny is far stronger (-600ps) but it is not for bolt-on swap.
  18. BRE did the idea on 510. The direction of tention rods is front to the lower arm, though. -- KAZU
