  1. I haven't checked manifold pressure, how would I got about doing that?
  2. ok, how much would you say is needed?
  3. Fixed the timing issue, turns out I had the timing backward. So I just moved the wired around presto! Fired right up.
  4. Maybe it wouldn't be a moving pulse, but if the wires had some kind of gas in them, it would be pretty cool to see them "pulse" with the colors.
  5. Awhile back I saw someone create their own fuel rail with barbed connectors and fuel hose. Could anyone point me in the direction of the page or the person who did this? BTW, I'm just looking at my options, considering a few things.
  6. Also, the throttle plate is seated, and the mix is running rich, though that may have been because of the high fuel pressure it was adjusted too. I just fixed that today though.
  7. I wanna say it just started one day. But it happened after I replaced the timing chain, fuel lines; filter, the fpr. As described I replaced all the vaccuum hoses. I have not checked the bcdd. It is a '79 280zx, pretty much stock. I had to retime the engine completely.
  8. Hi again, Ive done my homework and checking... My idle sits at about 2300 rpm at normal idle speed. I've messed with the idle screw on top of the throttle body, when it is all the way down the idle goes down slightly. I've put a new air regulator on. I've replaced all the vaccuum hoses I could see and find. I've replaced the throttle position sensor. Checked out the inside of the AFM, it's clean there. I've replaced the fuel pressure regulator and adjusted it to the right pressure. What next is there to do? Should I try and retard the timing through the distributor. What else can I do?
  9. Thermovalve? I have the FSM, can't find anything about it. I don't think it is that though. I the idle just isn't right. After, I run it hard and it is warmed up it runs 2000 RPMs out of gear. I dont know how to adjust the idle lower, or higher or even how to adjust it downwards.
  10. My 280zx has had fuel issues. I've put in a new fuel pump, a polyurethane tank, new adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Now, it runs great when your going down the road no issues. My problem lies in before and after driving it. When i first start my car, in gear, it idles at about 500. After running it (and it runs fine) I come back, pull it out of gear and idles up too 2000 RPMs. I've had a friend mess with the air/fuel screw on top of the throttle body... I need some help with it.
  11. Just because you have good fuel pressure when free revving doesn't mean the fuel pump can keep up with the load of driving down the street. This happened to mean, I could run it up too 6K easy, free revving. When I'd put it in gear it would bog down and the engine would cough and sputter. All I'm saying is that it might be the fuel pump, don't rule it out just yet.
  12. figured it out. Alternator is good, just replaced it. The problem is a burnt plug in the wiring harness for the light switch.
  13. Also, I do have the dash off to fix the cracks in it... Would that have any affect on it???
  14. what do you mean by small spade?? got a picture of that particular piece???
  15. Well, here is is, back with another problem that maybe you guys can help me out with. I recently replaced the clutch and in doing so had to removed the starter. I have the clutch replaced and connected the starter. I tried to start it and no power to the starter. My question is: Do I have to hook up the negative battery cable to the solenoid for it to crank?
  16. Ok, I finally have pics of my cars' switch and corresponding wire harness. Turn signal/light switch Corresponding wire harness Wiper switch Corresponding wire harness Anybody got anything that could help me out???
  17. Julio, the grote signal switch might be alright if the switch didn't also control the lights and house the cruise control button, good try though Zentech, I'll get back to you with a pic of that tonight
  18. I replaced the gasket without removing the engine, had to take off the oil tube inside the pan just to get the gasket seated. but yeah.
  19. I have '79 280zx, needing a master switch that is on the left hand side of the steering column. It control the lights and turn signals. Mine, unfortunately, has deceased. Anybody have one or know of where I could one???
  20. why not apply a coat of clear on the wiring? wouldn't that solve the corrosion issue???
  21. Don't know the short, don't wanna, just don't want it happening again with the old stuff, getting the new stuff, consider it fixed
  22. I need some help with this.. Anybody know of a solution to my problem, possibly how to make my own fusible links????
