  1. I would say just find another hatch.... sound like an easier process. You will probably need another person's help to install a new hatch, they are heavy.
  2. I'm interested in this, just talking with a friend about this. I don't like the stock look of my shift boot of my 280zx. I would like a shift boot.
  3. Looks good, how does it drive?
  4. it definitely wasn't electronic controlled, nor did it have a single wire... If you look, it has a throttle linkage, fun stuff...
  5. Did you try just searching on the internet for codes, usually you can find some.
  6. Is the trans manual or automatic and how are the gears???
  7. wow this is all very informative. Im using this to repair my dash.
  8. I could be wrong, but I'm sure these guys sell new dash caps... http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/zr/t.aspx?Page=72 Maybe, I wrong.
  9. I take that back, I hear the pump, smell the gas. So, it is getting fuel. I have also determined that it is not any of the fuses. My timing may be a little off, fooled around with the distributor and heard some pops while trying to start it. This would be a whole lot easier if I owned a timing light.
  10. Thank you for your help. My engine is time.
  11. I have put 280zx back together after replacing the timing chain, guides, and tensioner. Everything else in the engine is back where is supposed to be. I timed it manually before putting it back together. My problem now is it wont start. Its cranking, but it seems like its not getting gas. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe fuses is where I would start.
  12. I took the hatch struts back to the parts store. They had ordered the wrong ones. They even paid for the extra cost of the right struts(Granted, it was only maybe a buck or so more).
  13. Thank you for all the help, turns out it was the timing... I'll be more careful about the topic naming in the future.
  14. Thanks for all the help guys... I went ahead and bought two new front brake calipers as suggested. Calipers have been installed and are bled. Now, to get the engine running.
  15. Right now, I have replaced the timing chain on my L28 in my '79 280zx. A buddy of mine helped me with it, he knows a little more about engines than I do. We turned the lower crankshaft gear approximately twice so we could line up the chain. Will that throw off the timing?
  16. As the title states, I am looking for 280zx driver's brake caliper. My caliper does not I only noticed this when I was trying to put my wheels on my car. If anyone has one for sale, let me know. All help would be appreciated. Thank you, in advance.
  17. thank you robert, i'll check those, though I dont have problem getting to high rpms
  18. I have the FSM, looking through, but I dont have a lot of time >_> going to school full time
  19. I dont know anything about totyota caliper upgrade system, but how did you get the calipers upside down??? dont the bleeder valves have to be sticking up?
  20. I have the original engine in my '79 280zx. problem, it sometimes backfire and acts like it wants to die on me when I step on the gas... it has also died on me once, the RPMs were around the 1000s when it did this I have been told it could be timing and/or adjusting the valves. I have not opened up the engine yet, would you please give me some advice on what is going
  21. If your frustrated with your EGR, take the EGR off. Im pretty new to my ZX, but I dont like look of all the EGR systems, so i plan on removing them anyways.
  22. looks cool! Seems out of place for this forum though >_>
