  1. I understand that the S130 ( 280ZX ) introduced in late 78 , like most new cars do . But didn't think Nissan would call it a " 1978 " . Like stated earlier , they didn't use "X" in the suffix then sounded like there were 2 78 280Zs in 1978 , one S30 and the other S130 , it seems strange . My understanding is that the S130s are 79-83 model . Tool shed !
  2. Check your fuel leak again when it's COLD outside . Like the gauge pod/pillar , looks good .
  3. LOL . It's just kinda strange to me that Nissan/Datsun introduced 78 S130 and 78 S30 at the same time . I have been in this business for over 15 yrs. , I haven't seen a new model car and old model car used the same year .
  4. Does it have any kind of ID or VIN ? If yes , where ?
  5. I have seen his build . Has no A/C but looks good .
  6. There's a button on the left ( I think , it's been awhile ) side of your dash for headlight up/down function . Try it . Check your fusible links if there's no power to the headlight fuses and make sure the fuses are good .
  7. LOL . That's why I usually asked those Honda drivers , " Got boost ? " . But most of the time , I just revved up my motor . Race usually ended before it got started .
  8. Looking good . Great run . Was that a Honda Civic that got you at the end ?
  9. I like the 47 series . Pretty pricey for just seat frame but it looks high quality though . How much for a loaded seat , around $500 ?
  10. Download FSM and get a Haynes manual . You will learn a lot about your car . Looks like you'll be busy for awhile . LOL .
  11. Probably the headlight switch . Replaced one on the same car , it sat for awhile . Customer wanted a new one even though I repaired ( cleaned contacts ) the old .
  12. If you look at production date ( plate or label on the door or B pillar ) , most of the time it doesn't match with sticker or plate in the engine compartment . Like I stated before , when you are dealing with mid year production , it can go either way . The engine compartment label will be the correct year to go by and the VIN will match it . Part number would be an ideal way to order part . They are few parts on the car don't have part number and/or missing or damaged . When you call in for a part , you need to give correct year model ( label in the engine compartment ) . Most dealers prefer VIN and sometimes will ask for production date , especially for model like the 260Z . Like 2014 cars , some will be built in 2013 , that don't make them 2013 models . I always use engine compartment label and VIN ( should the 10th digit on late models ) . The above picture is an S130 ( 280ZX ) , to my knowledge , 79-83 are S130s .
  13. Yeah . It doesn't look bad enough to be totaled .
  14. Production date doesn't mean year model . I always go by the sticker in the engine compartment . 6 / 78 or even 8 / 78 could go either way , 78 or 79 model , depends on the make . We run into this problem a lot in my business ( automotive ) . If you order a part for a 78 at the parts store , will get an S30 part not an S130 part .
  15. Depends on location of your inline fuse . You want to have a fuse to protect a circuit as close to battery as you can . If the fuse is too far away and you have a short between the power source and the fuse then you will have electrical meltdown or fire . You get the picture . You can hook up all your wires to a heavy gauge wire then run it ( with an inline fuse or fusible link ) to the starter . I would rec to use a fuse block .
  16. 78 ? I thought the S130 started in 79 . I had a 79 .
  17. Find a way to connect a light bulb to your fuse holder ( the blown one ) . I use an old light socket with 2 wires at the end . If you have a dead short then the bulb will light up like a Xmas tree . Start moving wiring harnesses or disconnect components until the light goes out . You will find a short when the light goes out .
  18. Stop wasting money on fuses . Use a circuit breaker or a light bulb . Light bulb method would be the easiest way to narrow down your short .
  19. Convert it . R12 is very high if you can get it . They are a few things you will need with R134 conversion . I just converted one ( previous shop did a poor job ) , 86 turbo . works ok in Texas heat . Customer is happy . Could have been a lot better but customer didn't want to spend more money .
