  1. Figured it might be cool to see what everyone is working with!
  2. 240hoke.... Can I assume hoke = HOKIE?? Got some snow also the other day. I'm in Christiansburg, Virginia... right next door to Va. Tech/Blacksburg. Only about an inch but enough for my 2.5 year old son and 11 month old chocolate lab to romp around in.
  3. I ran into the exact same problem. I ended up hammering that bend flat and rebending where it needed to be. I did it with my bench vise and a hammer. Not to hard but took some time to get it to fit right. Here's how i got the final shape right. Take a thin piece of metal (1/4") and bend it over the rocker to get the shape that the panel needs to be. Take that piece to the bench with you and work with your patch panel until you get the right shape. Final fit was not perfect but it can definitely be worked with. Nothing some final hammering and light bondo can't fix!! Good luck!!
  4. Wow! have fun! Don't expect perfect fit. I had to work my stuff to get it to fit right. Tim from Tabco never called me back. Ball is in his court now. Here's some pics of my finished product (before and after shots) Still some "fine tuning" required. All in all though, i'm happy with the results.
  5. Updates?? I'm pretty curious if this guy's been confronted about this yet.
  6. That is definitely the same car!! Check out the pictures you each have of the passenger rocker rust! Awww man... and he said he had a 240 he was parting out!!! Oh yeah, i'd be calling him up and threatening his A$$!!! Tell him you know for sure it's not a 240 and that you have a witness that saw the car previoulsy and told you about the 240 he had parted out!
  7. So sorry bud. I'd say give the guy who sold it to you a call. Find out where he got it from. If he got it from someone else you're probably just screwed cause he may have told you what he'd been told. If it soulds like he knew what was up i'd threaten his A$$. Tell him you want your cash back as well as your travel time. Tell him you know what's up and that your thinking about calling the cops. Pretty darn illegal to switch VIN plates like that. If you bought it off ebay you may be able to get your cash back that way. Act fast though. Most likely though your out your cash and learned a good lesson.
  8. Compare vin on plates to vin stamped on the firewall above the brake booster. If they're different (they will be) then someone has switched the plates out.
  9. Uh, yeah... especialy if the title is also calling it a '72 240. you may be driving around a jacked car there bud!! Most likely though someone at some time switching the plates to make the car more marketable. Get it cleared up before you invest all sorts of money/time in fixing it up.
  10. found some perfect bolts from my stash off the 77 280 I parted out. Bolted the brackets on and they fit nicely. Nice recess in the back to fit around the mounting area. Again, not 100% on how it'll work cause I don't have all the parts i need yet.
  11. What are you asking for it? My bro is looking into buying one of those right now. How many rounds have you put thru it?
  12. So... Tabco guy has a name... Tim I relayed some of the requests here (yes, even for 2+2 parts). he's gonna get an exploded diagram in front of him and call me back tonight. So, any last requests? So far i've got: Battery tray area lower radiator crossmember rear sill full door skins full roof panels 2+2 rear quarters/doglegs anything else?? I'll try and get an idea how long until parts will be ready tonight. If you think of anything else give Tim a call at Tabco (http://www.tabcobodyparts.com/index.html)
  13. 260+ tail lights, 260+ bumper mount holes, 260+ steering wheel... Somethings REALLY fishy here if you've got plates reading '71. Check the VIN (stamped on the firewall above the brake booster) This one can't be swapped out. Good luck!
  14. Plans at laser guy today. He said it should be a couple days before he gets the first one cut. If your interested let me know and i'll start a list for the first run. I'll have a better idea on cost after the first one is cut. I anticipate around $60 - $70 + shipping/handling Paper version is $42 on ebay + S/H!! Cost will increase if you want powdercoating. (not sure on this yet). Metal box would be great for mounting ECU's and music components. Have another older car with a paper/press board glove box? PM me and we can discuss sedning me the stock box and me drawing up plans and getting one made.
  15. Stopped by autozone on the way home. They had M10 x 1.25 in a 30mm and 40mm length. 25mm length is gonnna be hard to come by I think. I dug thru my spare fasteners (froma parted out 280Z) and found six that will work perfectly. Really nice brackets by the way. Don't have the calipers or rotors yet to test fit but i'm pretty confident things will come together nicely. Anyone have a spare set of 84-85 rear maxima calipers laying around?? My only complaint was slow shipping (took 19 days). Granted, it was over the holidays, but 19 days for something like this with 2-3 day shipping... unless he's making them when ordered? Also, he's not that great about answering e-mails. Seems like a nice guy to work with once you do get a response though.
  16. Ya'll think there's enough of a 2+2 market for them to invest in stamping those parts? I have an inner rear wheel well on the way. It should be here in a couple days. I want to check on fit before I call him back and tell him our requests. Hopefully they'll listen and get some stuff stamped!!
  17. BTW, I did get a repsonse from him today. Secretly monitoring this site??? Hmmm. I did not get the bolts for the brackets. They're in the picture on the posting but he says they're not included. No mention that they're not included though. He says i'll need M10 1.25 X 25. Anyone know where I can get my hands on these? Autozone/Advance?? Can't find 'em on the net. Also... Grade 8.8 or 10.9
  18. yeah, ebay username... Sorry. here's the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170287221057&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AEOIBSAA%3AUS%3A11&viewitem=
  19. Here's a link to my blog. http://www.ls1240z8.blogspot.com/
  20. I bought a set of these brackets from him and can't get a response to my e-mails. Wondering if I can reach him thru HybridZ?
  21. Yikes... hope he's ok! I smoked for eight years and dropped a cig or two into my lap. You know what else you have to be careful with? Letting a cigarette out your window when the rear window is also down! I had one of my cigs nail a buddy right in the face cause it flew back into the car! Nasty habit, but man, I really miss it sometimes!!
  22. The lower rear quarter I ordered is not the best fit either. Good suggestion to ask that they try and perfect these pieces. Mine will work but it'll take some cutting/forming to get it right. I wasn't to surprised with the ill fit. The tabco guy had mentioned interest in the rear deck area. We'll add that to the list though. I'm trying to focus on things thaty are currently not made/available from other sources. So: Battery tray area (including tray support and firewall) Door skins Rear deck sill Lower radiator cross member Any other suggestions?
  23. dog legs, inner and outer rear wheels wells and lower front fender panels are already made by tabco. How 'bout the firewall area behind the battery tray?
  24. He mentioned talking to his "press" guy so i'm pretty sure they're pressing now. Plus, the rear quarter front section i ordered receltly looked like it had press marks on it (did'nt look like hand forming at all). Door skins is a good idea!! How 'bout we come up with a list of pieces that are needed but cannot be found and i'll send those to him. so far we've got: Door skins Battery tray area Battery tray support how 'bout seat mounts/supports?
