  1. On the side rear of the tail section where the shifter attaches...The words Borg Warner will be written.
  2. Thanks James, I'll drop you a line when I'm coming up. P.S. I picked up the hoses from Scottie today...thanks!! ... and no YOU didn't hold me up, but I'm still being held up. This time it is Summit racing...waiting on braided lines and fittings... It's always something!!
  3. Thank you all for your advice. I'll plan on breaking the engine in w/ Kendall as suggested. I really like the idea of being able to read the dip-stick too!! As far as the SDS system... www.sdsefi.com If you hunt around this site, (like using the search function) you may be able to find a nice discount on the system if it is still being offered
  4. All of the heads from 70-83 are interchangeable with the 70-83 blocks (as long as you aren't putting a 280z head on a 240 block...something about valve clearance). The P90 is a direct swap for the P90A. I chose to go with the P90A and I hear that I may be the last person to have gotten a new set of hydraulic lifters. They were pricey (+$300 with discount). For that kind of money, you could get a P90 head and new lifters for it... Oh well, I just hope these lifters don't go south in the next 10 years!!
  5. Very nice James!! Lemme know when you are gonna take it on it's maiden voyage. I'll make the trip up to see you. How far are you from the airport in Tallahassee? I can drop in on you some time. I fly there every couple of weeks (for flight school). Anyway, Lookin' good!! Mike
  6. Well, I'm in the final stages of my engine build/swap. SDS is wired in and I am waiting on Summit to send my braided fuel lines and my turbo to be modified...Anyway, on to the question...What weight and type of oil should be used in break-in. I will be using a synthetic ... live in Florida (so cold temps should not be a biggie)... and have an L6 turbo. I prefer straight weight oils, but is 30 wieght too heavy for a turbo motor? Thank you in advance, Mike
  7. This guy's boost valves seem pretty descent... http://boostvalve.com/ I plan on dropping him a line when I am ready.
  8. Ron, I have the exact same turbo you purchased and probably through the same supplier. Anyway, I am taking mine tomorrow to have the stock T3 housing (slightly ported) put on so i can use Scotty's downpipe. As far as the wastegate...it is in a $hitty place. I have to have another bracket made or modify the existing one (also being done tomorrow). Motor and tranny are in, driveshaft shortened (cause I used the T-5), manifolds are mounted and after the turbo is modded tomorrow, the SDS gets hooked up and intercooler plumbing is next on the agenda... I'm getting so close I can almost taste it!! OK, enough about me...
  9. Thanks Ron. I appreciate the "leg work". Good luck, Mike
  10. I've been polishing my wheels a little at a time. I finished one and it took me 6 hours (excluding breaks) to get the lip looking like chrome. I used Mother's polish, a bunch of shop towels, and "a lot of elbow grease" as you said. The finished product is very nice, but it takes forever...
  11. Ron, I have purchased the same turbo and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. When/if you locate the spacer you need, would you please post it here so others (like myself) will be able to follow suite? Thanks,Mike
  12. Meakin, welcome!! I have an early model 71 240z in Europe. I shipped it there 4 years ago. It is bone stock, aside from the glasspack muffler, and it is driven only in the summer when either my parents or I am there. It's quite a sight to watch my mother (nearly 60) drive away with the glass pack rumbling...Oh yeah "there" is in Finland. my mother's side of the family is all over there and I go every year. We have a good deal of farm land and the country (dirt) roads are a blast to drive on. It's kinda like rally driving, but you have to be careful because you don't know when someone may be coming the other way. It is rare that you run into someone... Anyway, as you said, noone seems to remember these cars over there. Oh well, their loss. "May the restoration gods shine upon you and your project!!" Mike
  13. Is your R200 out of a 280zx turbo? The bolt pattern should be the same for the Z and ZX unless it came out of an 82-83 turbo. Anyway, i have an R200 standard flange and am looking for the R200 turbo flange. If that is what you have, maybe we could swap? Just a thought, Mike
  14. Usually when there's white smoke right after sart-up and shortly after goes away, is usually a symptom of valve stem seals... Run a compression check dry and then wet to check the rings. G-luck, Mike
  15. I was referring to the little "buttons" that sit on top of the valves that the lifters press down on. They get worn and cause a bunch of tapping.
  16. I've sold a couple of E31 heads for $150 as well. Shipping via US post office has not been over $30 (Florida to Washington state) via parcel post ground. Both heads I sold were untouched as well. On the other hand, I bought one for $50 w/ an extra cam at one time too.
  17. I am in the middle of a build-up, so I am unable to tell the difference. The tapping you hear may be helped if not cured with only getting new lash pads. I had a good deal of tapping in my n/a L28 and replaced the lash pads, and it sounds great again. P.S. I feel fortunate to have gotten those hydraulics then...money well spent...
  18. I just bought a set of 83 turbo hydraulic lifters from Courtesy Nissan in Texas http://www.courtesyparts.com/ Unfortunately they were a little pricey +$300 with discount!! I probably could have gotten a P90 and new lifters for that!! G-luck, Mike
  19. Referring to the ride in the "Patrick" car...I was elated in the performance Now I can't wait to drive one of my own. Scottie, isn't a buddy of yours doing a GN swap into an RX7?

  21. Scottie, i'm in for a set of the adaptors. I've been pondering long and hard whether it was necessary and the more horror stories I read here, the more I feel the need for them. I think I'd rather deal with the halfshafts one time and have piece of mind. Thanks again for offering to make another run of adaptors. I missed out on the first as well.
  22. Just ran across this...looks like it'd be perfect for anyone planning on a swap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=595006282&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1000333889&indexURL=0&rd=1
  23. I think it looks pretty cool with the G-nose stretching the car out a bit and with the modern rims, but just because I think it looks cool doesn't mean that i would put it on my car my $.02
  24. Check out this site, They seem pretty reasonable http://www.swracecars.com/
  25. R200 LSD came w/ a 3:70 ratio. I believe it is limited to that alone from the "salvage" yards. Sounds like you've got a good starting point. Good luck!!
