  1. A 2.8L shouldn't surge before 20psi with the GT3582R compressor. And even then it shouldn't buck the engine and cause the BOV to go off. Collapsing intake tract after the BOV is the only thing that will cause the BOV to go off that I can think of? Dave
  2. Roostmonkey, Yours is somewhere in between. You have a nice flat torque curve throughout much of the rev range. A good thing for a street car. What cam do you run? Dave
  3. You're assuming that 1 fast z meant the intake is setup for 6800 WITH the ram tubes. Maybe, maybe not. In any case you will still get the potential 5th or 6th harmonics for a shorter path at a RPM the engine will more likely see at not WOT. I dunno, its shiny at least. Dave
  4. Just got my car back to a drivable state (-3.5 deg front camber for me!) so I'll go tomorrow and see what I get. Dave
  5. Methinks you will still get quite a harmonic where the butterfly is in the intake tract, especially at mid-throttle, so unless its a race car? I understand what pulse tuning does, but do you not understand that if two cylinders are getting more charge than the other 4 at a particular rpm, and the same amount of fuel is being fed into all 6, that those two will burn differently than the others? What doesn't make sense here? So unless you've got very smart EFI which lets you individually cal injectors based on RPM, you will get different burns at harmonic RPMs. Dave
  6. Hmmm... looks scary to me. Number 3 and 4 will have different induction harmonic frequencies than the other cylinders resulting in those cylinders running either rich or lean compared to the others at those rpm where the harmonics occur. Or am I mistaken? Dave
  7. I can hardly hear my ext w/g too. Maybe I just need more boost. Dave
  8. hat1324, I doubt the S15 6-speed is stronger I agree. But what skyline 6-speed box are you referring to? Only one I know of is the R34 GTR getrag which, believe me, is nothing like a silvia box, and is muchos stronger, similar the RB25DET 5-speed. Dave
  9. HeatRaveR, That has been going around for a while now, but the only people you hear of braking them are drifters, who destroy S13s as well.. do these people know the function of a clutch I wonder? j/k. Anyway performanceforums.com had an intersting discussion about this but the basic outcome was that the gearsets themselves are no weaker, but apparently a circlip which has something to do with #4 is relatively close to a selector fork and with a little abuse can get knocked off, stuck between gears, and thats the end of that gearbox. Relatively easy solution. I have a S15 6-speed (and engine) sitting in my shed for my 510, really should go have a look and see if the conversion to a L6 bell housing would be the same as earlier S13 boxes. Will let you konw, Dave
  10. You're asking for around 60-80% power increase from the engine and if you have trouble keeping your right foot off the gas, that is going to cost you mpg. It entirely depends how you drive it though. Bloke here in australia does retuning of the S13 SR (and CA) ECUs. http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/daughterboards.shtml lots of people here have had good results and he makes a pre-tuned chip for a few different upgrades which have seen 270 (aussie) rwhp from cars with S15 T28s. You might consider that a cheaper alternative. Dave
  11. Any advantage you get from having more gears to choose from in a track car I think you would loose in a, weight and b, the fact that you have to change gears more often. I did the sums on the close ratio T56s available here from Ford, even with a 4.4:1 you're still looking at over 300kph 6th and a 1st that you will never see on the track aside from the start, and even then with cold tyres you may well just spin them. It is cool to be able to say, ``yeah its a 6 speed'', but not when the guy beside you with the 4-speed jerico goes flashing past for the same price. Dave
  12. Your only hope of getting anything resembling near stock lag and still be bigger is with a BB turbo I would think. You do need dyno time if you think a stock SR is laggy! Dave
  13. Thats the one I was talking about I think. I'd say you could work something out, but I'm not sure where it goes or what to do with the vent. If its bigger on your car maybe you could swap them over so the bigger line is used for fuel return? Dave
  14. That looks great! Can't wait to see the result. Dave
  15. My zed has three lines that run down the car. One big thats originally for fuel feed, and two small ones. If yours has this maybe you could use both small ones for fuel return? Dave
  16. I am winding the boost up to 20psi or so this weekend on my stock short block. I have a decent detonation detector so won't let that happen and we'll see where we get to I suppose. If it breaks, so be it. iaconsultants, What sort of fuel/spark control were you running on these engines as obviously accurate control of both will have an influence. Dave
  17. Are you sure that is the problem? Have you measured the pressure in the return line? Checked that its not blocked? Checked that your FPR is working correctly? I ran another -8 (1/2") line in speedflow pipe for my car and used the stock feed as the return. Bit of work, but I don't have to worry about it now. Dave
  18. You'll be happy with the pauters i'm sure. They'll handle everything you can throw at them. Dave
  19. Well I feel kinda dumb now that Tim mentioned it. I wonder though, if you controlled detonation, how much would a stock cast piston cope with? Dave
  20. Surely that is only a limitation if you are revving the bejesus out of it though? Dave
  21. Broke a crankshaft? Jeez you'd be doing well. Even the 650hp SCCA turbo L28s only ever bent them didn't they? Dave
