  1. All SBC and BBC motor mount postion is in the same location and distance from the bell housing. The only diffirence is on the BBC it is longer in the front. I even think the V6 4.3 liter is the same as well. Hope this helps..... Ps: we use a motor plate up from and a rear mid-plate. This way you can postion the engine anywhere you want, then fab your own transmission mount. John
  2. Hey guys I posted a response earlier today but do not see it. You can go to my website www.jnjdragracing.com and look at our suspension it was holding up okay with u-joints, but now we have upgraded to the cv joints. Take a look, they can handle more punishment than you think. john
  3. hey Zgad, hopefully we will be launching the car with out retarding it at SEZ, should put down some 1.30 or 1.2? 60 ft. Which means 8's in the 1/4 mile.
  4. Yes it made a mess, but that is how it goes, it burned the boost pressure line and melted some of the isulation off the dist. pickup wires. Nothing too bad, glad we had a fire ext. and my brother thought quickly.
  5. When the Hot Rod Power Tour was here in Columbia S.C we saw this car and I talked with the guy, it really is a sleeper until you see the engine and whats in the trunk.
  6. Took some video of out CV conversion test run, and also posted some photo's of the rear suspension setup. Just wanted to let who ever was intrested to know. www.jnjdragracing.com , Zcar, Movies, Testing CV conversion. John
  7. I looked at the videos from last night, I went ahead and posted them to our website jnjdragracing.com, it is under the movie section labeled cv joint conversion. I did not catch the blower sneeze on video but you can hear it and also the track announcer saying to did you see that. Anyway the track was wet and we should of never have tried it but we wanted to test the cv joints. John
  8. mat73gnc, I have not looked but thanks for pointing this out. I will let my brother know about this and have him check it out. I am fixing to go out to the shop to clean up my engine from the fire ext. and will take some photos of the rear suspension.
  9. Hello Warren, yeah I hope for a good showing, we have purchased a fire jacket and will be upgrading the roll bar to a 10 point this week along with the saftey window net. John
  10. The new track will not open until August. So we were planning to go to Midlands drag strip Friday night, canceld due to rain. We did go Saturday night to Midlands. We did a awsome burnout and staged then we were flagged as the tree was moving down. Backed up and all hell broke loose, RAIN like a flood. Drove back to the tralier and loaded it up and waited for the storm to pass. Then waited for the track to dry out. Weather in SC after storm is humid as hell. The track finally dries up some, watched a few cars run and then decided to give it another try. Did another massive burnout staged and took off down the track with some ease to test the track. Had an oil leak at the base of the dizzy, cleaned iu and wrapped a towel around it. Made another pass a little harder to test the track. All went fine, went back to make another pass, left hard still retarding the timing at launch, once it left we let go of the retard to put timing back at normal, then I guess with the hot humid weather the blower sneesed, had to get out of it. Went to get time card and noticed a fire under the hood. When the blower sneesed it caught the towel on fire and had to use a fire ext, to put it out. How ever we did have a 1.34 60 foot. The CV upgrade held. Wanted to try a full launch not using the retard but it was not going to happen, another night. I will look at the video footage today and see if it is worth posting. I think if we leave normal we should put down a 1.2? 60 ft. Just wanted to post a update on the cv axle upgrade. John
  11. I bought a Thermal Dynamics plazma cutter last year, it is a dual voltage and is good up 5/8 thickness. I think it was in the $1200.00 range, it is made by Miller. It slices through metal like butter and is great for cutting any type of metal. I can trace something or draw something on metal and cut it out, it really has helped in the shop making brackets and such. John
  12. What do have to loose? I would fight it. John
  13. He paid $85.00 each for the shafts including a core, these are new / remanufactored. If no core then add $75.00 to it. These are the 4 bolt 300zxt shafts. The 300zxt shafts have 4 bolt instead of 6 bolt and are larger diameter thant the 280zxt shafts. Hope this helps, if you are selling them used, I am not sure what to ask for them. I know the core charge is $75.00 a piece. Hope this helps. John
  14. I spoke with my brother and he said the 300zxt shafts are larger diameter than the 280zxt shafts. He spoke with zgad and he said not to waist your time on the 280zxt because he was breaking them. He also said the 300zxt shafts were 4 bolt other than the 6 bolt. Stating that 4 bolt was alot tougher.
  15. When I was building the car I asked my brother if he wanted me to take it off, he said leave it on. It is not hurting anything that I know of. So we will just let it be. You now it might be helping, when I changed the bolts to shorter ones to gain more clearence for the cv's I noticed how it kinda tied the two arms together, maybe adding a little more strength to the rear suspension. John
  16. I am not sure about the cv axles. I know my brother did research ans was talking with zgad and speeder. I would pm them and ask about the difference between the 280zx and the 300zx. I will also ask my brother. Well good luck with the nos and I guess we will see you at sez7. John
  17. It is the 300zx Turbo shafts from A-1 Cardone. They look beefy, we will see. Jerry
  18. Hello Quicker240, have not heard from you in awhile. How is everything going? Yes he used the 300zx I think almost 100% sure. Hes we have a couple of spare stub axels. That what I was telling my brother, we will find the next week link, eigther a stub axle or the center chunk ( ring and pinion). Did you ever get your NOS problem resolved? Look forward to seeing you at SEZ7.
  19. Sorry to hear about your half shafts / rear end. We have I think 3 spare R200 rear ends if you are interested in one of them. Let me know and I can ask my brother, since you live in S.C.
  20. Their supposed to be opening up our old track again this coming Friday. Under New ownership and he re-did the track, 1/8 mile for now then next year 1/4 mile. Orangeburg drag strip outside of North if anybodys interested. Will find out later this week if they are running if not, then we will go to Elgin or Jackson drag strip. Thanks to all and we will keep you posted. John
  21. We limited our front end travel to keep it from going to high, and also limited the rear end travel squat. To the rearend squat we used spacers and placed on top of the struts. When the front end travel comes up so high you loose time / when the car begins to leave. By limiting the rear squat is the same but also you want to adjust it so when under load / takeoff you want the halfshafts to be parrallel you know straight in line, this keeps the ujoints / cv's out of a bind. We never had a problem of hooking, always hooked good. But we had to limit the travel ( to keep from losing time ) and the rear to keep from breaking ujoints. Go to my web page www.jnjdragracing.com and look at some of the videos of us leaving. John
