  1. Your not going to stay at the Comfort Inn on Saturday, then go to the Track? You get to meet alot of folks etc. It is like a party kinda...... John PS. Don't feel bad, we have lost some power as well, hoping for cool dry weather...
  2. Yep ccmpared to a new one, not bad to me. It does stick, ac-tig, ac+tig, dc-tig, dc+tig. Came with a custom torch, cart and alot of accessory's. Also since it has squarewave technology it welds aluminum beautiful.
  3. Welcome aboard, you will find almost anything related to Z's on this board, real helpful. John
  4. David I was also looking for a tig. I went to a welding shop and looked at them in action, they were using an older licoln sqaurewave 175. I liked it and told them if they ever upgraded I would like to buy it. Well I checked back, almost a year and he said it was time to upgrade. So I was able to purchase it for $600.00. They bought a Miller syncwave 300 I think. Just an idea, I saw it in action is was heavy duty, I liked it and was able to purchase it. John
  5. Actually the 1st dyno pass was really our best time. From there it went down hill, but we got it back. It is a secret...... shhhh
  6. nah, no vortex..... Just some hard work and lessons to be learned. SEZ should be fun, with a lot more faster Zcars. We just hope we can put on a good show for everyone. John
  7. Well we went to the Dyno today and made 8 pulls. 1st pull pushing water out of radiator but no oil leaks, 2nd pull played with timimg, and 3rd pull same. Still pushing water out of radiator, oh well what the hell, it seem to stop on the rest of the pulls but power was down. Learned alot as usual, did not break anything major so far we think. We might not be running our best due to the weather, blowers like cool weather but we will try our best as usual to put on a good show. So we will be attending SEZ#7. Here is a 27 meg. video of the first pass, 56k beware. www.jnjdragracing.com/0819/dyno0906.mpg Can not comment to much because of our match race, I guess we will just have to let the et's tell all. John
  8. Yes Hooker Headers do make conversion kits. The headers we run are Hooker Super Comp headers mad for a Z car.
  9. I would run the pistons designed for turbo / supercharger, they are forged aand the top ring is set lower down on the piston. The rings I have read about the gapless rings and want to try them sometime. I hear they give you more horsepower due to the fact they are not letting compresion through. Presently we run the file ti fit rings and I file mine top ring 24, bottom ring 26. Have not had any problems with this setup until I leaned the motor out and burned two pistons, due to the fact I think fuel pump messed, have replaced. Good luck John
  10. Hey man, I love your photo of american Graffiti, you will never guess how many times I have watched that movie, along with heart like a wheel and hotrod. Anyway welcome to the site and hope you enjoy it. John
  11. If you are coming to SEZ next weekend I will bring you a holley regulator. Just let me know. John
  12. Oh Hell no.......... Your car is fast man. We are awed at how it was running last time at SEZ. We will have to see. It seems like this time at SEZ they are going to be a lot of fast cars. We will be glad to run you if we don't brake, we do have a match race set up with Rip. I guess it is still on. We will know more after Dyno testing tomorrow. PS: Why do you want to pick on the V8 guy's? John
  13. I wished, we will find out tomorrow at some time, please wish us luck, I am keeping my fingers crossed. John
  14. You can also run a stud girdle, this makes all of the rockers a whole. They are not to expensive, you can find them on ebay from dirt track thunder. John
  15. Hey Zgad, have not heard anymore news from you runs. My brother and I were talking and we bet you have already made it in the 8's haven't you :D John
  16. You bet Wayne, I guess you are having to push it up as well, I know I am tired, I guess I am getting old.
  17. Hey guys, think I fixed the oil leak, engine is running and ready to go to the Dyno Wednesday, get some fine tuning and hopefully all will go okay, and on our way to SEZ#7 next Saturday. Here is a video I took of the engine running, it is 65 meg, 56k beware. Just right click the link and save as..... http://www.jnjdragracing.com/ready/ready.mpg John
  18. Fixed the oil leak I think, we will see come Wednesday when we bring it to the Dyno, it finds everything. Hopefully we will get a good tune and nothing breaks. Here is a little video I took today Monday 09/04, RIP beware....... Note: the video clip is about 65 meg. Give it time to download, 56k beware... http://www.jnjdragracing.com/ready/ready.mpg John
  19. Great run, show more. What your cars spec, motor size , trans, rearend etc... ? What did the red mustang run? Jerry:2thumbs:
  20. DR Hunt, NICE RACK!!!!! How about a shot of a BEAVER. jerry:2thumbs:
  21. Well accomplished my goals. One night cut the rings and install rings, once I got my block back, it cheked out okay no cracks in the cylinder. Second night after picking up the two balanced pistons and the heads, Install crank, and pistons. Third night finshed up bottom end, installed timing chain, crank hub, checked TDC, installed head studs and installed heads. Heads were warped, and had a bent valve. Today, assembled valve train, installed transition plates and intake, starter, from motor plates, water pump, oil, primed oil pump, installed motor in car, installed blower, set timing, adjusted valves, checked for fuel leaks and busted it off, set timing and let run a while. Did have a oil leak, resolved it I hope. All went well, no problems as of yet. Tomorrow let run some more, check for oil leaks and clean up the shop. Take Monday off, and get ready to go to the dyno, if we don't blow it we will be at SEZ. John
  22. I would have to concur with Braap and Rontyler on this one. John
