  1. Here is the auto -> manual swap. If should be able to back out what you need to get. I'll save my comments about doing all that work just to keep an automatic I don't think there's anything other than the pilot bushing you need to change. But it's been many moons since I did my conversion. http://lootz.z31.com/board/read.php3?id=266662&srf=faqyou
  2. hell, that's a steal! http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?quanity%5B38351-N3100%5D=0&quanity%5B38300-11V75%5D=1&pn=update haha.
  3. Might have a VG34ET in it http://www.escort-us.com/frames.html
  4. if the 280zx auto tranny is as weak as the 300zx auto tranny (4N71B), then I'd say yes. Level Ten makes upgrades for the 300zx tranny, maybe they have something for you as well: http://www.levelten.com/
  5. One of the guys in my VW club just shipped his 78 golf over from germany, 25+ years old = no worries from customs/import laws. http://www.swov.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=26576&hl=finally
  6. jason84na2t found ~450hp to be about the limit of the stock (NA?) pistons. The block itself can go much farther. I believe the pathy VG blocks have additional reinforcement as well.

I just read about someone attempting this swap to a z31: http://z31.com/board/read.php3?id=22733 You might be able to help each other out with info and whatnot.
  8. I've been running ~9psi on my t25 for a couple years. That's about as far as I can go without detonation.
  9. you can convert an NA to turbo (http://www.redz31.com/pages/turbo.html), but if you need to find an engine anyway just get a VG30ET and be done with it. Or find a VG33 from a pathfinder and convert that to turbo. 4/87 was when they changed to the W series engines with additional water passages.
  10. NA -> turbo swap: http://www.redz31.com/pages/turbo.html
  11. http://www.co.caldwell.nc.us/ All I could find was the sex offender registry and the real estate records.
  12. no, this is the worlds fastest electric car: http://www.buckeyebullet.com/
  13. VW/Audi was recommending 8k until they had to start replacing engines that were gunking up and seizing...
  14. 88-89 z31 ECUs have the 28 pin chip, 84-87 are the 26 pin. Oh, I don't think anyone answere where to find the ecu in the z31, it's behind a panel right in front of the passenger side door (below glovebox). I have an 85 turbo auto ECU sitting around if you don't care about using romulator.
  15. I think you mean 10lbs/min ~ 100hp? Try reading the maps now Drftn, hp/10 on the X axis and PR on the Y
  16. This would be the perfect article if someone is a subscriber: http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=2455 http://www.datsuns.com/Tech/aerodynamics_and_cooling.htm http://www.gmecca.com/byorc/dtipsaerodynamics.html
  17. find a road racer who goes through a lot of tires. A lot of times they'll give you their old tires for free. A few friends went to mid-ohio for the SCCA runoffs last weekend and Avon, Kumho, and Hoosier (i think) were giving away old tires (Kumho was charging a nominal fee). It saves them the trouble of hauling them back with them.
  18. A VR6 GTI is a much better starting point IMO. 1.8t is far too pricey an engine for me to consider screwing with. And none of the 1.8t guys around here can touch the VR6T (and TT) guys... but I also consider being german an automatic disqualification for this survey
  19. That's what I was thinking. Or you can put stickers/wing/fart can on the early 80s maxima, that could tip the scales back in your favor. They'll be blinded by ricer-rage and want to take your money.
  20. Easiest route: Sell the DETT and your Z, then buy a nice turbo z31.
  21. technically that is accepted. But I would never talk like that in front of my vibrations professor I would have used 'damped' instead of dampened. Especially after going thru the effort of saying they are 'dampers' not 'dampeners' i.e. something that damps, not dampens.
  22. They started with such promise: Then they 'dampened' my parade: They shoulda/coulda called up a local university and had some undergrad engineers snag them some harmonic data. Matlab (and now Octave) can do some fun stuff with the data http://www.cs.wright.edu/~jslater/vtoolbox/vtoolbox.html
