Lol. R200s are a dime a dozen in the junkyards around here.. I couldn't find an R180 if I tried! On another note I was at the JY and found a complete Z31 turbo. I was jumping around like a little kid in a candy shop. I pulled the whole rear sub-frame, diff, axles, control arm, et...Only to find out that the car wasn't originally a turbo... No LSD diff.

You can get a lightly used one from one of the diesel forums for about half price. BTW the OE DSM BOV that I have only has one port on it for a pressure line. Probably just a spring and a diaphragm. You could get a cheap Ebay BOV and cut off the top to mount a solenoid. ~Dan~

That car is intense! I love it! The cowl hood is soo subtle you can hardly see it! -
There are some of those pistons in the junkyard now. If you want me to take a trip down there give me a PM. I also have some L24 rods on ebay now...
-
A lot of the diesel turbo guys are using a "turbo guard" made by bully dog. It is basically microprocessor controlled BOV and takes input from your TPS and other places. I have been thinking about getting one and adapting it to a turbo L6 aplication.

Hmm... "BRAAP" never gets his name spelled correctly..lol Anyway I'll congradulate Paul for going into the red zone...
-
Maybe because it sticks to everything you blast and everything within a 20 foot radius? If you made an enclosed room then it should be better. I may look into this though. Seems like the way to keep from breathing the sand.

I will be putting the BOV up in the classifieds tonight. Changed my mind. (unless Max wants it (call me)) also putting the injectors up now...

There is some crazy stuff on craigslist... Like a 280zxt that needs a new turbo for $450

superchareg mount for l6 finished !
OlderThanMe replied to frank280zx's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
So how are you going to route the tubing from the turbo to the S/C? I doubt there is room under the hood to go over the valve cover. how about going into the cowl and putting the air/water IC in there? You can make nice big gradual bends and send a pipe straight into the back of your supercharger. That would be a cleaner solution. Just be sure to use some big flex joints when going into the body unless you are going to solid mount the engine. How much power are you looking to get? 300hp, 400hp, 500hp? or more!? I love watching the Lancia Delta S4 videos on youtube. Just insane sounding!!! You are going to need an awesome bypass valve setup since the S/C is always going to be boosting under full decel! I am watching this build VERY closely. Good luck!! Also is that a bolt going into the head for the S/C mount? you may want to put a stud in there. -
Hmm... I don't know if it is going to go away from my garage. I am thinking about using it. Let me think on it for a while and I'll get back to you on it. KTM-EXC, I'll look it up... Thank you sir. You know a pair of these would go great on an L6...

check out www.lindseyracing.com Their intercooler would be perfect for your application. -
oh crud...now I need my diamonds to be re-done... If you order the diamonds in the fall you will have to wait a while. When I ordered from them it took a month because they were backed up in high priority wheels for circle track racing. Ordering them bare would have removed a week from my wait time. I'm not complaining...just informing. Great wheels and pretty strong for the weight.

I still may grab the ECU. I was loosening the wiring harness from the sensors in the engine bay but gave up in pulling the dash apart. Prox, It says TD04 on the cold side. Pics coming.

ERNIE!!! I can't believe you are leaving! Haven't seen you much lately... You will be missed by the majority of the Z car community. Dan

Excuse me, The turbo is a "TD04" Not T04B... What was I thinking!?!?!

Woohoo! Went to the junkyard today... I was looking to get the motor out of a "1975 280zx"... Well it was indeed a 1975 280Z that was pretty bad condition. I ended up looking at a 1991 eclipse for the seats.(like I put in my Z) Then I figured I'd pop the hood to see what was under there... 2 liter, dohc, wait, is that a wastegate?!?!?! I found a 100% complete turbo eclipse with 102,000 miles. I pulled the little T04b turbo(I think) with minimal play, exhaust manifold, BOV, intercooler, and the 450cc injectors. I also got a 240sx TB, a pair of 84'-85' Ford 503cc TBI injectors from a mustang, and a BRAND new L6 water pump still in the box. Looking to put the stuff up on Ebay tonight except the injectors. Any idea on how much the turbo/manifold/O2 sensor combo is worth?

So any more crazy ideas? I'm doing a sketch for my frontier when I possibly start a certain business after college... a 4x4 mobile fabrication shop. should be fun! -

I was having a problem with the URLs not copying the whole thing. when you click and drag the URL it scrolls and there is more URL that is hidden. Just click and hold while moving your cursor down. Once it is all selected than hit ctrl+c to copy and then ctrl+v to paste. Don't worry about it. You will figure it ou Jhaag. Actually read this thread just posted by BRAAP a couple minutes ago. Everything you need to know. -
Tutorial: SR Gearbox onto L-series engine

Does this only work for the 5 speed tranny? Could an imported 6 speed tranny work? -
should have one by wednesday. Once I sell off all the parts I'll buy another one that is also nearby. It is a way better option to buy the whole LD motor and sell off the parts to the Diesel maxima guys. In the morning I'm going to go pick up a L28 that the local yard got yesterday. Probably going to do a rebuild, raise compression with a maxima head, and then sell it on Ebay. Who knows I may even get the parts and build a high compression N/A stroker out of it to sell. Jmortenson, Aren't the stock L28 motors the same idea? good gas mileage and live forever? I don't see why you can't modify the head to use aftermarket injectors, put a big(for a diesel) turbo on there, and run boost up at like 30+ psi... We know the Nissan internals can take the abuse since they are all forged. Just some forged pistons and add boost. With the gas motors we are taking an "economy" L28 that got 25mpg well tuned back i the 70's and now some guys are making 600+ hp on the stock crank (albiet modified, but came in a production car). What is needed in the fire triangle to go faster with a diesel? heat: Glow plugs (will stock work? probably not.)/compression ratio fuel: bigger injectors/fuel pump oxygen: big turbo, ported runners, bigger valves With a diesel you don't have to worry about spraying fuel around the valves as it is injected directly into the combustion chamber. Just some thoughts...

Here are the exhaust ports... They are pretty rough but not terrible. BTW I'd like to use a pair of L28ETs for a work table...

obviously this guy doesn't know his stuff but is spreading bad information. http://datsunmotorsports.selfip.com/Engine.htm from the site: "The V07 block is from the Diesel family(The Dark Side). It has a 1/2" taller deck height than the petrol version. It also has a far thicker cylinder wall than any of the other blocks. I have sources that claim to be able to get a 104mm bore from this engine, though I have gotten a 95mm bore from one safely. This block is also reinforced with more internal webbing." Umm...the bore spacing on a L6 block is 96mm and 98mm in the middle. There is no possible way to have a 95mm bore and have any amount of cylinder wall. Maybe he got an 85mm bore and forgot a centimeter? and somehow the MN47 head in his engine calculator is not 39 or 39.5cc... It is 42.4cc???

In fact it was done by Nissan... The Maxima I pulled a head from had a square port exhaust manifold on it and it had round ports.
