  1. I have less than a quarter inch of clearance between the center section of the wheel and the s12 solid rotor Toyota caliper and plenty of clearance on the outer rim. really good fit...4 in. backspace front and back with stock suspension...soon to be coilover though. i the front I have about half an inch between the coil and tire. plenty more on the back... could have used 4.5 in backspacing but I wanted the same wheels all around. and don't let the tire people scratch the wheel when mounting a tire. the paint seems to scratch easily with tools smacking the wheel and such.
  2. I have had my 15x8 pro series for about 5 months now and I am running TALL 225/60/15 tires and they rubbed all day long on my stock fenders and it looked really weird with the wheels sticking out that far...until I got some flares for free!!!and I can tell you where to get free flares if you want me too!!!
  3. if you do that method you can drift ANY RWD car no matter the HP...
  4. weld the suspension solid, get a lincoln locker...done...2 hours of work... $50...drift...over-inflate skinny rear tires...underinflate front wide tires... DRIFT!!!
  5. well the suspension design is similar to a Z's suspension. it is certainly possible with a bit of welding and fabrication...but if you mess up new strut tuves are not cheap...you could have someone experienced build them or someone here do it...it is a little ricey but if you could solidly mount the bottom of the strut to the the spindle then it might be worth the conversion...
  6. harbor freight has a DC GTAW welder for $350 before tank and regulator... I am saving for a Miller Dynasty 200DX. I am in welding school and have been GTAW welding for about a year and have been able to make some beautiful welds on mild steel, stainless, and aluminium...GTAW is definitely my favorite process of them all. And if you can weld with oxyfuel then GTAW will be easy. I have also welded Mig and am takeing my last course in overhead SMAW welding and Prep for Industrial Qualification starting in January.
  7. yes I bought 4 of the same wheels...could have gone with another half inch of backspace if I was going with a wider wheel. backspace is the measure from the inside lip of the bead to the inside face of the center section where it the wheel mates with the rotor. diamondracingwheels.com has a chart on how to determine all of the parameters of your wheel on their site on this page... http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/Terms-BS.htm that should help and it is much easier to calculate backspace than offset which changes with wheel width. If you are running coilovers you could run about 5 in. of backspace wether it is a 15"x5.5" rim or a 15"x12" rim... nobody really make a rim as narrow as the first one with that much backspace but you get the picture...
  8. just got my wheels from diamondracing wheels about a month ago...they have to be balanced from the lug holes instead of the center hole...sorta picky...mine are 15x8 pro series with 4 in. backspacing and clears the stock front suspension with 225/60r15 by about half an inch. There is about 3/4 of an inch of clearance in the rear so 245's would fit...I have stock fenders and it sticks out a little bit so I am just going to make up some 3 in. flares for the back and 2-2.5 in flares for the front. It took them about 2 weeks longer than they said for the wheels to ship unfortunately. I think they said there was a backlog or something...
  9. I had the EXACT same problem...after lookin and looking I finally grabbed the axle and twisted and sure enough is went klunk...I thought my whole rear suspension was falling apart or the control arm bushings were gone but it was the u-joints...$40 fix...
  10. Hi I am new here and have been driving my Z for 2 years and love driving it. I am looking at having www.diamondracingwheels.com make me some 16x8 wheels and the inner bellhousing is 13.3 inches on their rims and looking at getting their "Avenger" 15x8 wheels and in the future upsizing the rears... I measured from the center of my hub to the outside of my solid rotor 4 piston caliper kit from msa and it seems to measure 6"and 7/16 of an inch... that makes 12 7/8 in.dia. will the 13.3 fit with enough clearance for my larger front brakes? I think it is enough but not sure. also it looks like y'all are using 4.5 in. of backspace but my current rims are 14x6.5 w/3.25 in backspace and running some 215's and there is about 1.25 inches of space between the tire and springs. I would like to know what I can run as far as backspace and tires to run. thanks...
  11. I just installed the version for solid rotors on my Z as well as some slotted/crossdrilled rotors. since my 14 in. wheels don't fit now I would like to know exactly what the largest diameter is for the calipers...I measured from the center to the outside edge of the caliper and I came up with 6 7/16ths is that correct? thanks...
  12. looks good...My boss asks me every time I work when I am going to paint my 260...I always tell him that it is going to be like 2 years after I get the frame straightened and finish the suspension and make some metal flares...
