  1. One thing thatI learned in welding school for welding cast iron is to tap some holes in the cast iron and put some mild steel studs in there for the weld to grab on to. I have never done it but it makes sense. Just my bit of info...
  2. That is cool. I just listed the emblem up on Evilbay.
  3. Yes it would go great on a Z! I was thinking about putting one of these in the grille of my 04 Frontier...
  4. So here are some photos of a pickup emblem that I'm going to list. I only paid a buck for it at the JY so I should make something from it. What should I use or get different pictures? Leaning toward the third picture. (in ebay sized pics...) all my junk in the background..whoops.
  5. Very cool! Cut off that nasty exhaust and put a nice one in there. Other than that I love it!!
  6. Rome, New york city, Monte carlo, Sao Paulo... WOW. Ditto I have always wanted to make a replica of a 1950 Ferrari 275 powered by a high compression L6 sporting fat Webers. Maybe with a supercharger.
  7. What are the chances of having two administrators, born on the same day, same year, and with the same first name? lol Happy B-Day y'all!
  8. If you like the paint then get it! it looks like the hood needs to wet-sanded still? That gas filler door is pretty slick. Thankfully the air dam is not molded in. I have only seen problems with molded in airdams. Something looks funky near the engine crossmember on the frame rails. Rivets...eek.
  9. It's scrap... Max has worse misquitos than me even...
  10. umm... Here in Atlanta we need air cleaners or the engines will die from ingestion of misquitos... That renders that crossram manifold a pile of scrap.
  11. Umm... I guess not. (other than the budget v8Z in greyscale) My root beer: Maybe Ron can join with Max to give him a fighting chance...
  12. We all know what you want to do for those "upgrades" Matt... "Up" with the suspension! "Up" with the tires! "UP" with the power! "Up" with the skid plates!
  13. A Z31 would make an awesome rally car!!!
  14. hmm... I LOVE the old 510 wagons... Like a skinny Maxima... Saw one a little while ago that was british racing green. Very cool.
  15. Max, Looks cool! great progress!!! Time for a video??
  16. You can join my team Austin. Let's make this a tag-team event... Bshiltz, me, and Austin are the blue team. Max, and b_sosick? find a third member... All cars over 500hp should be detuned to 500hp for the event. We may need to move the event back to 2011 though.
  17. I believe you are the first guy to twincharge the L series (supercharge and turbocharge). May you see many more years as a Z car guy!!! Cheers. OTM
  18. A holset H1C core will be here this week that I paid very little for. (probably going to rebuild and sell it if it can be used...)
  19. I am getting into selling stuff on Ebay now. I just sold a valve cover an made a *small* profit off of it. I'm wondering what can be done to make items sell better? Taking good photos helps things sell and I have tried to do that. I just took a shelf in my garage and turned it into my photo box. Any suggestions for making my photos better? This first one is fuzzier than the one I put on Ebay. This one was in the ad. I have this 16g TD04 water/oil cooled turbo with exhaust manifold and downpipe that I want to list on ebay. Should I tear everything down and powdercoat or rattlecan it in hi-temp black before selling? Or should I just sell it as is? Thanks for any tips!! OTM/Dan
  20. Ouch! If that much junk was going into the engine he probably popped the motor.
  21. Here is a copper head gasket that is available in 1mm and 2mm thicknesses. I haven't seen this kind of HG for sale before. Is there an advantage of using copper over an HKS style metal head gasket? How many times can a copper head gasket be torqued? Soft copper deforms fairly easily so that makes me think it can be used once or twice. Price is $186...eh. How would this do on a high compression or turbo L6? ~Dan~
  22. Just keep looking... you can occasionally find a rebuildable set of triples for $500. Use the E31 head...just get custom pistons with a dish to match the combustion chamber shape. Don't use the 2mm HG... that is the cheap-scape way out of CR. On the contrary use a 1mm metal or 1.2mm felpro and dish the pistons more. Unfortunately you can only get the junky Cali. gas and you probably don't want to buy high octane (race) gas all the time. That means you need to keep the CR at or below 10.5:1. Around here a couple Z guys run 11.2:1 with our 93 octane gas and they run fine.
  23. OK... one of the local yards has an LQ with 31k miles for a grand. Came from a Durango. The LQ heads supposedly have the same intake and exhaust runners as the LS6 head but have a larger combustion chamber. (Better for a turbo? Easier to get lower compression.) It seems most of them came with an auto trans though. Will a T56 bolt up? The LQ4 is a 6 liter making 300hp to 330hp with a CR of 9.41:1 and 71cc combustion chambers. Sounds promising...
