  1. time to bring an old post back im about to begine the process of removing old undercoating and redoing it. i plan on useing a heat gun then scrap off the stuff. then clean the rest with a solvent/thinner. ive read that Zal Strip works wonders, its very HEAVY DUTY stuff they use on airplanes etc etc. ... also very corosive... anyone have experience with this product? will it eat the seam fillers? i dont want that to happen.... thnx!
  2. j: yea i think they are included. bump stops arent required? does that give me more travel? i think the bumpstops are close to 2', so i'll get 2' more travel i suppose. but then if i bottom out..... the shocks are toast lol
  3. does anyone have these? how do these fit and how tight a seal do they provide? i read the precision front windshield leaks? im in vancouver bc so lots of rain up here =( thnx http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=34-1001&Category_Code=SWR01H

  6. hi everyone. can the rear shocks and springs be removed wiithout removing the spindle and drive shaft? i FINALLY got the darn spindles out.... took me 2 hours of hammering, pulling, twisting... i have limited hand tools. and now the drive shaft bolts wont budge >
  7. thats AMAZING! im looking at ur shiny new car coming outta ur garage, then i look at mine sitting in mine..... u crazy americans lol. keep up the good work!
  8. ^^^ holly crap... thats a bit too big of a hole to fill with bondo... it was all bondo'ed to look flush from THAT?
  9. ok. thnx for the info guys. now onto bump stops.. i removed the front suspension/swaybar/rack/etc etc today and when i took out the spring and shock... there was no bump stops... instead little round rubber boulders.... lol i dunno wat the previous owner did... damn. so where can i get some bump stops? dealership or can they be ordered online? and do i need to cut the bump stops? according to the manual with the shocks, it said to cut the bump stops to allow more travel? thnx
  10. ah ic. yea mine have a F and R on the springs. so even if i cut the spacer on the rear shocks, it wont give me more travel?
  11. hi, i just got my set of illumina shocks + tokico springs that i ordered from jdmwerks. a couple of questions. just to double check the rear springs are longer than the front right? with my other cars its the other way around.. and another thing is that in the rear illumina's there's a 2" metal tube at the bottom of the shock. can it be cut shorter to allow more travel for the shock? anyone have these and done that? thnx!!
  12. yup im in van. im in surrey by boundary park. we should meet up and work on our cars
  13. anyone have that spoiler for sale?
  14. i have 15" rims with 50 tires. i was thinking of goin with 60 tires to reduce the wheel gap
  15. yea i want something like that^^^ i wouldnt want anything lower. if the tokicos will give me that height without goin with coilovers then i'll be happy. i just dont want to go through the hastle of sectioning. but i also dont want my shocks to bottom out
  16. thnx for the imput aux. would something like this be linear? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKICO-ILLUMINA-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-260Z-280Z-75-78_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33590QQitemZ7999850883QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW but it only lowers by 1". would it be possible if i cut 1/2 - 1 coil off to get another .5" ? ive never cut springs b4
  17. thnx for the links. im gonna get the fiberglass ones.
  18. anyone have pics of 280z's lowered with this kit? http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/tokico/details?part_num=HPK253&products=1&part_category=HPK%20Suspension%20Kit&specific_fit=1974%20-%201978%20NISSAN%20280Z&ajr_skey=49016c4d39d5f40c90a8ad3b7d1ba222 i was reading http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102038&highlight=hpk about experiences with them. i understand the fronts are progressive while the back is linear? im not too sure what that means. i did a little search on progressive and states that as the spring gets compressed more, it takes more force to further compress it. im guessing linear means it takes the same force to further compress no matter how much the spring is already compressed? what does that mean in terms of performance? i dont track the car, use it for daily/weekend driving but i still want a low/firm ride (but still need to be able to get over the speed bumps) do i need to worry about sectioning with this setup? (i dont want the shocks to bottom out) or are they just a straight bolt one? i have a 78 280z pretty much stock engine. plz help! ty
