  1. Yup, she'll be running next year, but I can't give a date for the startup yet. Future Z meets will be a lot more fun with all the Z cars that will be running next year. !M!
  2. It's finally off jackstands for its date with Mr. 3.8V-6Turbo Muhaaaa !M!
  3. Although I welcome the new guys, I have since stopped answering the simple questions long ago. The answers are there... !M!
  4. That sounds very wrong! What is keeping the ring gear from turning on the carrier? I doubt the "clamping force" of the ring gear bolts are enough to keep the ring gear from rotating slightly. !M!
  5. Look at them little fella's... I just want to love 'em and hug 'em and name them George. !M!
  6. For what it's worth, I believe Ernie "RacerX" said that there is a weldable primer, just in case you want to hit the bare metal with something while you're working on it. !M!
  7. These are great! I had something like this happen to me (of course). It was winter of last year, so I was down in the basement cleaning some parts and not outside, because it was to damn cold. My place to clean the parts were over a Rubbermade storage bin (15 gallons?) that I have been using for a trash can. I pulled out my Advanced Auto brake cleaner and went to town with all the excess dripping into the trash can. About an hour later, a buddy comes by and wants me to weld some stuff up for him. Being that it was still freeking cold out, I used my Lincoln welder downstairs... next to my trash can. As soon as I started welding, I hear a loud WHOOOOPF and feel a good amount of heat on my right side. I pull off my welding helmet to see the inside of my trash can on fire. Not having any water or fire extinguisher nearby, my buddy grabs the flamming trash can and runs up the stairs, throws open the side door, and tosses the container outside where I was able to throw some water on it. Now THAT was a close one. The moral of the story was... !M!
  8. Ivan a.k.a. "Evo" has that hood on his 280Z. It's pretty cool looking up close. His screen name is Ivan280zt. I know he has some pictures he can give you in a PM/e-mail or post here. He is VERY busy though, so have some patience when trying to contact him. !M!
  9. Pegasus has some mirrors you might be interested in. Mirrors More mirrors Even more mirrors !M!
  10. It's not to hard. I took a R200 from a '78 280Z which had a 3.54 ratio and installed a '87-'89 300ZX clutch type LSD into the aforementioned R200. I was a newbie to rear ends when I did it, but it worked out geat. However, I did need to make spacers for the 12mm carrier to work with the 10mm bolts for the ring gear. Is it worth it? I would say yes, if you want a clutch type LSD with a different ratio other than the 3.70 the 300ZX LSD carrier comes in. !M!
  11. There will be a very long coming GNZ update coming VERY soon . My buddy and I have been working on a '87 Cutlass with a GN engine swap. It should be able to be started tonight or tommorow. After the Cutlass is running, then my car goes into his heated garage to drop in the engine/transmission. It's cool guys. !M!
  12. Just apply a small bead of silicone caulk lengthwise on the strut tube, then slide the threaded sleeve over that. !M!
  13. Hey... ouch I contribute some usefull information every once in a while. !M!
  14. Congrats! I was going for my degree in ME for a little bit and know how hard it is also. Whoop Whoop! !M!
  15. Not that I care about my post count, actually it's kind of embarrassing how much I'm on this site, but I noticed that my post count went down. Does that mean that posts (possible information) were deleted? !M!
  16. Paint the black a matte finish! Then it won't look like you just replaced your hood with one from a junkyard, plus it looks muscle car'ish . Would you be able to tell me were you got that rear spoiler from? !M!
  17. Sounds nice and looks nice, but you NEVER trust another persons build unless they are reputable or somebody you know knows them personaly. With that said, you are going to be going through that engine to make sure everything has been done right. Heck, my buddy recently bought a short block stage II engine, which was built by "somebody that knows somebody", but he went through the engine anyways and the piston rings were gapped VERY wrong. Can you say "Blow by"? Another thing is that the guy has absolutely no feedback, which raises a flag. Another thing is that this drivetrain is located in London??? Thank you for the heads up, but for the others out there, buyer beware! !M!
  18. Spark plug I believe is from my old '90 Honda CRX and the fuel injector is from a '95 Toyota Camry. 'Tis the season to get creative. !M!
  19. In a few weeks, we'll be celebrating the birth of Santa and along with this celebration, we get to decorate trees. Every year I like to add ornaments of my own. !M!
  20. I T ' S S L O W . . . !M!
  21. I was just talking to my buddy in Illinios and he said that there is a H2 in Joliet, IL with a plate that's similar. I reads something like I NEED A !M!
  22. 7 characters plus 2 spaces is what we have in Wisconsin, which is where the plate looks like its from. !M!
  23. You might be a redneck if... The tatoo's on you back look like they were made from Silly Putty. !M!
