  1. Ross, he said: I was assuming (not the best thing to do) that this was the distance from the top of the wheel to the fender. If he went with 8" springs, reducing the gap by 2" that would leave a 1.6" fender to top of the wheel gap. With his perch screwed all the way down, he can raise it to match the front. Didn't mean to give bad advice. Just seeing as how he didn't like the aspect of having to weld again, I offered the advice in my last post. As for strut travel, well, you do have a point there. !M!
  2. I have mixed feelings about that one. Wow, $14k... I think he wants to get as much money out of it as he put in, which almost never happens. From his ad, what does this mean?: !M!
  3. Don't see why not. Hyperco lists a 8 inch 225 p/i spring. Give it a shot, doesn't hurt to try this before having to cut and weld again. !M!
  4. Here, if you're curious, you can read up on the early Z's aerodynamics here: http://zccw.org/Tech/Body/09-97EarlyZAerodynamics.html For exaust fumes inside, make sure you check out and replace if needed ALL seals in the rear (tail light, hatch), floor, doors and fire wall. I remember this post had some good information in it about exaust fumes. Click Here !M!
  5. Everybody has thier own opinion. I think it looks great. Would you have any shots taken from the back and low to the ground, so you can see how wide the tires are? I love those shots. !M!
  6. I recently bought the same 12 ton press from Northern. It's a good tool for the price. It's paid for itself already. My first job was removing the bearings off the carrier's for my LSD swap. Those suckers are on there! I almost crapped myself when the first one let go, sounds just like a 12 gauge firing. 8) !M!
  7. Hmm, I don't see any bongs laying around or go-go dancers. Pretty sweet pad you got there though. 8) Make sure your Z is parked out front when the scout comes by. !M!
  8. Sweet, I'm going to have to go to Barnes & Noble to buy a copy today. Can't wait to check out the article. !M!
  9. Wow, it's 20 minutes to 1am and there are 40 members and 33 guests online. I'll be in the chatroom for a little while before I hit the hay. !M!
  10. Sweet, I nailed the scoop on the head As for being the first one to do that hood scoop on a Z, you just never really know. Still, it looks amazing on the Z. It fits the size and shape of the S30 nicely, good thinkin' . !M!
  11. Marcus, Looks great! Looks like a aftermarket hood scoop that you can buy for a late model Camaro. Also looks similar to the Ferrari scoop pictured. Kind of like a large NACA duct blended into the stock hood bulge. Low, subtle, and yet so cool looking. I love it! !M!
  12. She gave it up that easy, huh? No kicking and screaming? !M!
  13. Tony D, Please check! It would help to clear up some things. Post your results here when you find out. Are you positive this is the original rear end? When you pull the cover off, you will see numbers stamped on the ring gear. It should read 37:11 if it does have the 3.36 ratio. 37 divided by 11 is 3.36 !M!
  14. What is the product? R200 is the name of a Nissan/Datsun differential. I believe the "200" refers to the ring size in milimeters. !M!
  15. Just checked the one I pulled off a '78 and it's the one on the top. !M!
  16. You like to fix fiberglass? I have a set, but they need a little bit of repair. I was going to use them to permanently mount to my fiberglass fenders, but it was just to much hassle for the seamless look. PM me for more information if you're interested. !M!
  17. That's what I thought for quite some time by reading that list of differentials and ratios from Zhome.com, untill someone said that there was indeed a 3.36 R200 in the '74 260Z 2+2. The Zhome.com list does not show what gears came in the 2+2. Lets see if GPSMatt can confirm this for us. If it's a R200 then the gears inside might be promising. EDIT: Heavy, I found that post a while back that I was thinking of click here . Well, I guess it's just one guy that said that the 3.36 was in the 260Z 2+2. Hmm, I guess we will have to wait untill someone wants to open up thier 260Z 2+2 differential. !M!
  18. I don't remember where on here it is, but someone confirmed that the 260Z 2+2 also had the 3.36 R200 So, this is what I have for the 3.36 R200 260Z 74 MT 4 sp. 2+2 (3.36) (R200) 280ZX 79 MT 4 sp. 2+2 (3.364) (R200) That's why I got all excited. GPSMatt, is there any chance that you could pull the cover off your differential and tell us what numbers are on the ring gear? Or better yet, is it even a R200? Here is a picture for comaprison: !M!
  19. How about a hint? How many cylinders... if any? Forced induction or N/A? 8) !M!
  20. '70-'78 hatches are compatible. Very early 240Z's had vertical defroster lines and possibly vents below the hatch window. Later ones have horizontal defroster lines. Also, 240Z's that I have seen, including mine have one hatch strut and some 260Z's and 280Z's have 2 hatch struts. !M!
  21. It depends, anywhere from ~$500 for a used clutch type diff. and swap the carrier into your case, or up to $1000+ for a Quaife unit. There is also the R230 option which is a viscous unit, but is still an expensive option. From what I understand, stay away from the Phantom Grip, but you can draw your own conclusions. Any way you go is going to be somewhat pricey. Don't forget about upgrading the halfshaft u-joints or swaping to CV's and possibly stub axles if you don't already have the thicker ones in your car. If you do a search in the Drivetrain forum with the search words that I have put in bold lettering, you will find a lot of information to keep you busy for a while . !M!
  22. Click here for info and tickets from 93X's site. There is another site with more information, but I can't find it. There is only a few good bands that they show right now, but trust me right before the event, there will be at least 2 pages of artists. A lot of them are "to be announced". I know, seriously, it is so much fun that many people have to write about thier experiences. Hell, last time we went, my sister and my cousin Angie got invited to go back stage for an entire night and meet the guys from Hate Breed, Papa Roach, Sevendust, and many others. You should see the pictures... whoa! You wouldn't believe what goes on back stage. I think that is the only time I wished I had a pretty face and a nice rack, so I could get taken back stage. !M!
  23. Never heard of that one, but I just found out that I and a bunch of freinds/cousins are going to X-Fest in Sommerset, WI. Huge, just huge event. I had ssooooooooooo much fun that last time I went. I can't wait! SO many stories of things that happened that can't be said on a public forum !M!

    a 79 2+2 MT R200?

280ZX 79 MT 4 sp. 2+2 (3.364) (R200) 280ZX 79 MT 5 sp. 2+2 (3.700) (R200) It most likely is a R200, and your '74 is most likely a R180, so you will have to switch your R180 to a R200. You may also have a different gear ratio after the swap. You can use CV's for this upgrade, provided you get the adaptors from MML (Ross C.). !M!
  25. This is pre-air dam fix, so it looks better now, than in the pictures shown below. !M!
