  1. *sound of a drum set* dum-dum-crash !M!
  2. Aren't those the ones that John Coffey's, buddy's shop is making? !M!
  3. Hells yeah! Are you able to post pictures? If not, I'll be more than happy to come over and take some for you. !M!
  4. Oh, I nearly busted my gut! The visual I just got was something that only a cartoon could duplicate !M!
  5. All you need is a shop vac. Just suck those "cute" guys up and you're in business . *makes the sound of a small object getting sucked into a pipe* !M!
  6. Very funny Tim I wish I could work on my Z today, but I'm having a blast riding around a F4i with my cousin and 6 aunts and uncles on their Harley's. I was showing my Dad how to pull wheelies while next to him on his Fat Boy. My Ma' was on the back of his bike and she got a kick out of it. First time I ever rode along side my Dad on a motorcycle. !M!
  7. Cool! Looks like that ATR TTA DP worked great. What is there, about 3/4" between the DP and strut tower? You're moving quick on this swap, but it makes it all the easier when someone has the mounts made for you already 8) Have you seen my latest progress in the "6 Cylinder Tech Board"? !M!
  8. Well, I am German with a little Irish thrown in the mix ...plus I have a large family and we like to party A LOT 8) !M!
  9. I have removed the R180 and half shafts along with the driveshaft. The horns have been flipped and mounted upside down to alow room for the intercooler. Most of the wires and hard lines that are not needed have been removed. I installed the steering relocation as shown in the pictures below. It's coming along great! Having a blast doing it !M!
  10. Cool! The thing is, only 23 people have voted. The 260Z has won so far. !M!
  11. Wow, all I have to say is two words, Simple Green. I could not believe how well this stuff worked for this task. My engine bay looks like new. The bubbling paint I thought had rust underneath it was just paint that got lifted up because of a brake fluid leak. There is NO rust . Something weird though, there looks to be an epoxy or something that was put under my battery tray and it ran down the side of the fender and onto the T/C mount. Looks like someone took a dump on it after eating some Mexican food. Pretty hard to clean off. I'm thinking of just leaving the engine bay white now, it looks really good! !M!
  12. That looks just like MSA's air dam. I have the same one, but mounted on my '73 240Z. If you follow the link below, you can see some pictures of it installed. The hoods not on, but I have quite a few pictures of the complete car. Let me know if you would like to see them. Click here !M!
  13. I was going through the old thread and noticed the link to my picture isn't working anymore, so here's a couple of me being me. (I love this digital camera!) Wearing HybridZ threads, and rockin' the Evil Kenevil helmet And partying pimp style in a decked out Excursion limo !M!
  14. Just started my swap. Look in the 6 cylinder tech section for updates. There are a few people with the GN swap in a Z car. Information can also be found in the hybrids section at http://www.turbobuicks.com. !M!
  15. There are 2 thin metal retainers that slide into the caliper along with the brake pads. I'm not sure what they are called, maybe "brake pad retainers"? You get them when you buy a loaded caliper from the parts store. !M!
  16. Doh! I have those pictures of the crossmember for you, but it's a little late tonight to shrink them and adjust the picture. I'm writing a note to send the pictures out to those that were interested tommorow evening. !M!
  17. Oh, I KNOW how that goes... I've been on this site for how many years and am just now starting my swap. Oh well, I was able to contribute some good information since I got here. I'm still thinking of painting the car a gunmetal grey with black accents, so the engine bay color will work nicely with the rest of the car. I was just trying to decide what finish of black, flat or semi gloss. I painted Scotties engine crossmember a flat black and really like it. Oh I'm definetly making the car the way I want it, nobody will have one like it and I love that. Well, sure the engine swap has been done before, but wait untill you see my gauges 8) The whole package will be unique around here, wheels, gauges, suspension, engine, sheer looks... I can't wait to get this thing on the road! I still need to do subframe connectors and a 6 point cage though, damn !M!
  18. Try Pegasus. Page 66, they have silicone reducers and stuff. The biggest they have is 2.5", but maybe you can make something work? !M!
  19. So it begins Muhahahah.... Muhahahaha! Well, today I fugured I would yank the engine out of the Z. I ripped her heart out Man, these engines come out easy. Made a rather large mess on the floor though, I called it "Lake Coolanttrannyfluid", but 80 punds of kitty litter cleaned it right up. Now she waits untill tommorow so I can degrease and wash the engine bay, then begin fixing small screw holes and getting rid of wires and such that is not needed. Then I get to paint the engine bay. Just out of curiousity, what is better for the engine bay, flat black or semi gloss? I'm thinking semi gloss, that way fluids will wipe off easily and not really leave a mark on the paint. !M!
  20. You do not need the original caliper mounting bracket off the '83, the Maxima bracket (a.k.a. "adapter caliper") replaces it. If the '83 is a turbo, you should see if you can get the CV's off of it too Just out of curiosity, did you get your Maxima brackets from a junk yard or did you buy them from the dealer? !M!
  21. I did the 15/16" master cylinder swap a few years back. I had similar symptoms with my brakes, turned out to just need the rod adjusted and I got a nice firm pedal. I bled my brakes so many times thinking there was air in the lines . Oh well. !M!
  22. Thank you! 8) The BRF isn't going anywhere. I also have a KCF 2004R laying around here. Provided the video I ordered is very in depth, I might just practice on the KCF first. Thank you for the information I'll look into your suggestions and make a post about what I do for others to follow. Thanks again, !M!
  23. Here is a post I made on Turbobuicks.com, maybe I can get some advice here too: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think I might just rebuild my BRF 2004R transmission myself. I did want to get a mild rebuild from Jimmy's, but is it really worth the extra $700 or so dollars getting the transmission rebuillt by a shop? Here is what I found so far from an eBay store: Oregon Performance Transmisions -Rebuild kit $105 -Transgo HD2 shift kit $89 -Kevlar band $17 -13 vane pump $39.95 -.500 boost valve o-ring style $13.50 -Rebuild manual (printed) $15.75 Anything else I might need? This is going behind a GN engine in a Datsun 240Z that will weigh about 2500 lbs. with me in it. I have just purchased a 2004R rebuild video to see what's involved. Is this really something that a newbie to automatic transmissions can take on? I've seen a post or two about special tools to take the 2004R apart, so should I pick those up as well or just do the rebuild without them. Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- !M!
