COOL! Thanks...that's exactly what I needed to know.

Hey all, recently I've been contemplating the thought of bolting on 50-100 shot of NOS on my turbo engine. Anyone in here running this type of set up? My wife's trying to talk me out of it because she does not think that a bottle of NOS in my hatch is the safest thing but she won't stop me from doing it. Lay down the info on me guys...wet set up or dry? is 100shot too much? is it legal (I really don't know). I was even thinking of doing a dual stage set up but I think that's over kill as I will only squeeze the trigger when I really need it. Thanks.

Hey guys, some of you know I swapped out my electronic gauges to an analog set up. Along with the swap, I put in the speedo cable that came in the 79 donor car. Now it's making a very annoying scratching sound which is then accompanied with the jumping speedo needle. I know it has to be bad...my question is this, would the 130mph speedo work if I put my original speedo cable back in? It was for the electronic cluster which only went up to 85mph. Thanks.

My hatch after being attacked by myself and car audio instal
ratedZ replied to Evan Purple240zt's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Here you go... I love Audiobahns! How does one sub sound? I was planning on doing the same as well. -
Thanks Hydra......psssstttttt.....what's that, I think I just had a brain fart! lol

It's funny how the "rice boy" word is thrown around all over the place now. For me to call the car "rice" I would have to first find out if it's even fast. If it is fast, by all means do what you want...but if it's slow then you get the coveted "rice boy" title slapped on your forehead. As for the car...it looks original (on a 280zx). The only things I don't like is the hood scoop, taradactal wing, and the small wheels. The space in the wheel well also urks me. Fix those things and it looks pretty cool. I would personally love to find out how he got that bumper to fit. I also kinda of think the bumper would look better without the flare fins (or whatever you call them)

Installing after market gauges to the stock housing
ratedZ replied to ratedZ's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
hey Vinh, I would need all three gauge pods to be prepped to fit a set of AutoMeter gauges. I basically just need the housing as it will be all rewired ect. How much for the prepped casing? -
Thanks for the link!
-
Thanks guys! As for my stereo and amp, that's exactly where mine is grounded
-
Hey guys...just wanted to know if that is normal. My Autometer phantom gauge gives me the readings just fine but I've noticed that the light would flicker left to right with my music (I have an amp.) Same thing happens when I adjust my automatic mirrors or roll the windows up and down. There's only three wires to the gauge....one is hooked up to the o2 sensor and the other is hooked up to the ignition that comes on when you turn the key. The other wire is grounded to the body.

Installing after market gauges to the stock housing
ratedZ replied to ratedZ's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Thanks guys! Hey Sean...I did a search on Greg Kringe's site but couldn't find a result. Do you have the URL? Thanks. -
...I searched and searched but I can't find the URL for a web site that clearly shows how to modify the stock 3 gauge housing to fit after market gauges. Help me out
-
Hey guys, I’m going to be installing my Air/Fuel ratio gauge this weekend and I only have one question. Exactly where should I clamp on a connector on the O2 censor? Should I clamp on to the green wire or should I go up further away from the sensor passed the wire connection to the wiring harness?....or does it even matter. Thanks.

Great now you ask I got a universal gauge pod and I had to custom fit the crap out of it. I used fiber glass and putty to mold it and let me tell you it was a PITFA. I really wish I read this before I did all that work...oh well, nevertheless it looks good. Good luck on selling it as I know a lot of ZX owners wanting one.
-
About how much do they go for? I think that would look sweet on my zxt.
-
I was going to use silicone but I need to build up the edges so I can make a smooth transition...where could I get the fiber glass stuff?
-
so are you going to hook us up Owen? check outt the cry baby! lol

Yeah I know...does anyone know what the conversion would come out to? I really want that kit. I remember seeing it on a white 280zxt in Japan a few months back but only now I was able to find a place that sells it. I wonder why MSA doesn't pick it up. I bet it would be a popular kit. I should email them with the pic and see what they say...

I just recently swapped out my electronic-o-crap speedo cluster to an analog cluster. With the swap, the cable was replaced as well. Now the cable that I'm using that came with the analog cluster is making scratching noises and the needle would bounce. Can I put the electronic speedo cable back in? if yes, would it read up to 130? Thanks.

Ok I just got an email back from those guys and here's what they said... *cut & paste* Michael, We do ship internationally, but fibreglass is a problem due to low weight and big volume. It usually costs more to ship than the cost of the parts. However, most of the kit parts that you see on my site originate in the U.S. and I could arrange for my suppliers to ship direct to you. Most parts are illustrated in the Motorsport Auto catalogue. Have a look at their web site www.zcarparts.com. If there is anything that you like there, quote their part numbers and order it through me and I will get you 10% discount on their prices. If I send from U.K. you will suffer with the £ to $ conversion as well! Regards, Mike Feeney MJP (Eastern Auto) Specialists in all Z and ZX models, GTi-R, Skyline and 200SX. Imports no problem. Web site now with ON-LINE SHOPPING : www.mjpauto.com I wish I could find out who the heck sells that g-nose conversion kit for the 280zx so I could just go straight to them....maybe some of you guys who are interested could do a search on it as well and report any of your findings here. I think that kit would be really something different...not just your average MSA kit the everyone has.

OK this might be a stupid question but I have never worked with bondo so I really don't know. Anyway, I got a pillar mount for my gauges but they don't exactly fit. I had to heat the plastic and cut the excess to fit (some what) on top of the pillar trim. Now, I wanted to blend the edges of the gauge mount to the pillar trim so it looks like it's one piece. Then I would sand it smooth so there is no seam and paint the whole thing black. Would bondo hold up or would it just crack? If so what else could I use to smooth out the transition? Any ideas? If this don't work I'll have to get another mount so I can start over....which would really suck!

I like a lot too! Now we just need to find out if they will sell for us folks here in the US. If you follow the link you will know why.
-
Hope that worked...but if not here's the link https://www.internetsecureserver.com/mjpauto/p83.html They have some kits that I have never seen. What do you guys think of the kit? Out of place on a 280zx? Opinions welcom.

Any of you turbo guys using one? I need some info as I'm looking into getting one. I remember seeing one in MSA but I think it was pricey...but then again nothing is cheap from Motorsport... Thanks.
