  1. I love that coil cover saying Datsun 240z. Absolutely amazing car!
  2. What kind of numbers are you looking to make? And what is that turbo next to it?
  3. Anyone else notice that he has 10 psi as 1.68 bar? That would make 5.95 psi 1 bar. Last time i checked 1 bar was 14.7 psi. Am i wrong somehow?
  4. If you're having custom pistons made to a specific compression ratio I am sure you can get the valve reliefs cut to clear.
  5. Have you pulled the dipstick? I would check to make sure the oil isn't milky and do a compression test to try and eliminate the engine being the problem. Good Luck. Brandon
  6. Mopar- I actually have an L28 sitting in my basement already. I was going to use it until i got a line on this Rb B_Sosick- I guess the title is a little misleading. I actually bought this as kind of a present to myself. I was a little stand-offish about spending the bucks for something like this when i can easily get an L28 or SBC going, but i thought of it as a once in a lifetime chance. Brandon
  7. Looky what i got! Getting this ready to put into my 71 240z. After placing orders with several companies and having them tell me they can't get one for months, I finally got this one. Looks pretty clean. I can't wait to get this thing up and running!
  8. Hey Doc, I use a Lincoln Precision Tig 185 for the same type of projects you speak of. Couldn't be happier with it. I've done everything from 18 ga. sheet on up to 3/8 plate steel with it. Also lays down some bitchin aluminum welds with a special pulse feature. Gets my vote for sure.
  9. Hey Jamie i know this is old but have you made any progress on the crank collars. I just acquired an R32 Rb26 and I like the idea of not having to take the crank out.
  10. Go for it! Those engines are pretty stout in factory trim. Here is a little info on the volvo DOHC head conversion. http://www.merkurtech.com/merkurtech/techarticles/item045.php Four cylinder ford performance parts. http://www.esslingeracing.com/ Lots of links to 2.3 sites http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/fastest4d/Links.html Hope that helps. Keep us updated as it comes together. I think it's an awesome project.
  11. One thing to keep in mind is that a big single will operate more efficiently at higher boost levels where as two smaller turbos will be efficient at slightly lower boost pressures.
  12. The Subaru diffs are indeed R160s. The 04+ Sti is the only one to use an R180. Not sure on the spline count but i may be able to get it.
  13. You and me both. Bishop, how much is that r33 engine?
  14. The service manual allows a variance of 14 psi between cylinders so i would not worry about 2 psi. Test figures look very good. Also, IIRC you are supposed to have the throttle open while doing a compression test so the figures you got may be lower than what it really has. Either way looks to be a healthy engine.
  15. standard value: 171 psi @ 300 rpm limit value: 128 psi @ 300 rpm Limit value is the lowest acceptable result. If it makes less than that then it needs work.
  16. It's the voltage regulator. It controls the voltage going through the field coil which will regulate the amount of output the alternator gives.
  17. Benders like that don't do so well on thin exhaust tubing. They have a tendency to shred it.
  18. http://www.sme.org/cgi-bin/find-articles.pl?&ME06ART6&ME&20060109&PUBME-66.249.72.67&SME& Pretty cool article on hot honing, also has a pic of a hone plate. Looks to be several inches thick.
  19. I would get the 5lb wastegate instead of the 13Lb. With a boost controller you can turn the boost up but you can't run less than what the wastegate is set for.
  20. Just a little bitty turbo. Turbonetics 91mm Thumper series
  21. I would not be surprised to see people running upwards of 2.0 bar on E85. Think of it as an environmentally friendly race gas. Not only do you get the octane increase but alchol has a natural cooling effect that would drop IATs down qutie a bit. Only downside is that it is stoich at 9.0:1 I believe so gas mileage suffers.
