  1. 2875lbs.There's more information in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension Dept. on "Height of 240Z" that Pete authored.
  2. If I'm not mistaken Borg Warner T-5 was also found in the Ford Mustang 5.0. Len This is a first for me; using these little guys......Cool!!!!!!!

  4. Thanks Z-Gad for the reply. I had my tork wrench all ready to put the 65lbs. on those plugs real good! I'm glad I was able to control myself!!!!!!ha. Those black caps on top of valve springs, in a moment of insanity, I thought they were plastic. I know better. I replaced four of those Hydralic pivots. Started car, ran it 10 min. at 1000 rpm. Drove about 10 miles. The new (2nd hand) ones are making more racket than the ones I had replaced! I remember squeezing them and those four squished about a 1/4 inch. So maybe they have air in them. I will call Z barn where I purchased them to see what ideas they have. If you have further input any would be appreciated! Thanks Len
  5. Looks like my X'es moved when I posted. they should be between and below the 10&6,6&2,2&4,4&8. Hope this makes sense!
  6. I wanted to remove my hydralic pivots on my 1983 280 ZXT P-90A head. There are a few losing pressure and clicking. Was wondering; Is there a way to remove the rocker arms to unscrew pivots without having to remove the whole cam? I thought about maybe using large screwdriver to compress valve spring enough to remove rocker arms. But was afraid I might crack the black caps on top of valve spring (look plastic). Any ideas. Also I am retorking my head to the required 65lbs. I torked all 14 as shown below. Except I noticed four (what look like) bolts, that are the same size as the head allen bolts in oil collection valley of head. See below they are located where I "X'ed" (head bolts are the numbers which is also tightening sequence. What are these x'es? 14 10 6 2 4 8 12 X X X X 13 9 5 1 3 7 11 Thanks for any info. Len
  7. What kind of mods do you plan on your sewer?lol..I fixed up my kitchen sink drain with MTB bike tube wrapped around drainpipe with two hose clamps. Worked for awhile now I'm considering an upgrade using a two quart tupperware catchbasin!!!!!!!!!!!(I hope the wife doesn't read HybridZ!). I noticed your rims on your Z. I read on your discription they are 16" american racing how do they fit, did you use spacers on the front. What do they cost? Len P.S I voted for your car!!
  8. I figure everything helps. My 280ZXT took a long time starting when it was warm. Like it was rich. It always started, just took a while. Within the last three days I bought the NGK Iridum (stock #3903) sparkplugs at $5.99 a piece. I gapped them at .044 and we'll see how they run. Before that I ran NGK standard BPR6ES-11 They ran OK. They ran better when I widened the gap to .044. Not enough time to tell the difference on the iridum plugs yet. We've had a bad snow/ice front here so haven't driven to much. Len
  9. Wow Scott are you sure you are not from the South? Back here we call that southern engineouity!!!. Gotta say you put those parts all together to look like there is such a vehicle as a Mazda, 280z, GM, 280ZXT, Ford T-bird. Love where you put the I/C, and the ZX functional hood scoop! I remember Randy from Modesto mentioned that location in past posts! I guess I'm an old man, but the only thing that scares me is sitting in front of ALL THOSE SPEAKERS LISTENING TO NINE INCH NAILS!!!!!!! Len
  10. That's great Scotty. Can't wait to see the pics. Did you use the Volvo I/C? Len
  11. All I have is total height 50 in. and ground clearance is 6 in. Weight distribution F/R 53%/47% From "Sports Car Graphic".
  12. That's what I figured. It just doesn't flow that much air from outside as my 78 280z. I need to check if vent is opening!
  13. Guys; My question is does the 280ZXT (or 79 to 83 Z car for that matter) have vents that vent to the outside. I know my 78 280Z has good vents from the outside. But on the 83 280ZXT I sure can't locate any access to the outside. While I had my Dash off I really didn't notice any (although I could be staring right at them) Maybe they run from the main H&A box in the center and vent through the base of the windshield vent between hood and windshield; by the wipers? My fan runs and blows out air but I'm suspicious that it is just recirulating interior air! Just wondering before the 104 degree heat hits this summer! Len
  14. I remember reading some good information concerning door adjustment; under the articles section at ZCAR.com Len
  15. James; It is nice to not have inspections anymore. Just wait they'll return someday. I plan on running a 3" exaust on my 1983 280ZXT I will weld a straight pipe about 24" long with flanges on either end in the middle of exaust (where the cat was located). So in the future if I need to; I can unbolt the straight pipe, weld up same lenght cat and replace with the cat if needed. Len
  16. Oh yea sorry; I was calling Temp sensor a cold start plug. You see if you really think about it.If its cold, usally when you start your car in morning, that dude is on. And when you remove it it looks like a plug (or it plugs the hole in the block it came out of). See it makes dense sense why I called it that. I was also to lazy to look up correct phrase in my 83 280zxt service manual! Glad you understand my thoughts and not my words!!!!! It should start OK this morning, with that temp sensor hooked up. Hey; if not you have 2 xtra outlets on your injector rail (if I'm not mistaken you used 280 6cylinder rail on a 4 cylinder). Hook up an on/off switch on one of those two injector plugs left over and plumb another injector into your rail. Install injector into intake wolla! While your at it install two that way. So you will have xtra fuel for more boost, when you install the larger Throttle Body and that 3 inch exaust (heck you can get by with a 2 1/2 exaust with that4cy.)....Heh.Heh.Heh...As you told me...can't stay in same place for very long..POWER CONSUMES US ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Z Ya! or should I say Z/Mazda Ya! Len
  17. Tony Your right concerning the O2 sensor. Can't really add anything else. Couldn't tell you how to mod it, except maybe resistors to change (lower) voltage reading the ECU would read showing a leaner reading. But you would need very low voltage sensors since lean reading is around .75 to .90 volts, correct mixture .90 to .95 volt and rich .95 to 1 volt. That's about it. Len
  18. Glad to hear things are shining for you again! That cold start plug was fresh in my mind because my wire came off a few days back. I didn't know what happen; I was really pissed! Even replaced ECU, then AFM out of frustration. Then I saw it; boy I could kick myself! Sometimes the problem is staring you right in the face. By the way I sent off the money to Rudy for those Merkur brown top 370's. Len
  19. Hey and with that U.S postal Priority mail tape on it. Its going to be really fast! In fact with Priority mail IT COULD FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Len
  20. Oh that's gonna be real nice!!!!!!!!
  21. I'm sorry I can't help you on that one. If the car's engine is really bad I guess maybe look at your engine bay as compared to a 71 to 83 280's engine bay. If they are close; then start cutting, pulling, welding and slashing! But if I were you I would first fix your 91 up as best you can. Then sell it. You will then have enough money to buy two old Z's. One as a daily driver along with another with either no engine or a bad engine; you can turn around and do the HybridZ thang to! Len
  22. Heck Scotty! Sounds like you got it covered! Keeps on running rich; drill more holes in the flap! I'm tickled about your EGR/BOV that's a first! Now It'll run like crap (real rich and finally die) if you don't have your cold start plug (in block/passenger side) hooked up correctly. Hope you see daylight soon on this project, Goog Luck! Len
  23. Son of a gun Scotty! You were able to do it afterall, I'm impressed! Good Job! By the way I contacted Rudy and he says he can scrounge up six (possibly seven) brown top Merkur XR4TI 370 injectors for $150 (shipping included). Hopefully they are in good condition. I'll keep you updated Len
  24. Guys; All this talk of a rotisserie makes me hungary. I just took two Rock Cornish Game Hens out of the Freezer to thaw. Saturday I'll add some garlic salt, pepper, a bit of rosemary, oregano and thyme. I'll put those babies on my rotisserie for about 45 min. Man talk about good! I agree with you Pete since my rotisserie is electric it can't handle the weight of those birds unless they are TOTALLY stripped and gutted!
  25. Arif From what I've read 18 PSI is really the Max. So you wouldn't want to use the stock 1g DSM BOV for more than 15PSI, unless you "crush it". You could then get to about 22PSI. Len
