  1. Dam! Tim that makes me sick! You mean just so the shop could save a few bucks they didn't install new rings? Especially so far along in a teardown! Kinda scary! I guess if we want something done right. We gotta do it ourselves! Hey I bet money, if they asked. You probably would have paid a little extra for your repair to be done right! Regarding emmissions. I feel lucky yet somewhat apprehensive, as I work on my 280zxt. While fabbing and routing I/C piping. Charcoal canister in the way; so I removed it. Building up new Turbo DP. No need for EGR connection. So I removed it. Building my 3" exaust I build same lenght straight pipe as my Cat to exchange when needed. Due to the unsure times we live in (along with Oklahoma politics). I've kept them intact to reinstall at a later date, when our laws will change. Which I'm sure hey will! Len
  2. Sam; Sounds really good and I know the 02 sensors are not very accurate. But I can't afford a "wide band 02" at the prices listed on that fjo wedsite! Just thought maybe a 4 wire O2 off a 91 Shadow could be just a little better than the single wire stock z 02. Len
  3. Nice to meet Ya Zcarninja. Wish you the best of luck on your swap! Len
  4. Congrat's Tim. We've been lucky here in Oklahoma. They stopped vehicle inspections circa 2001! What did you ever figure caused problems with your engine, your rings? I remember you pulling your hair out a few months back.
  5. So Randy; on the Z turbo if you wanted to use 4 wire Os sensor. You would hook up the grey to the single wire that runs to the wiring harness/ECU. Then run black wire to ground side of the battery. Then the two white are for the heater where would they hook up to? To the 12 volt side of battery?
  6. You might do a serch and check out past posts on correct year 240sx tb. I believe the 300zx TB is around 55mm. the the 240TB is 60mm. Also I think the 300sxTB you may not have to build a 1" spacer(it has correct stack height) but you need to do a search on that to be sure. You'd be amazed at what information you will find by doing a search. SuperDan did a great Job on this websight!
  7. Also what is even more important. Guys thanks for answering the questions asked. What may sound silly to some is very important to others. Nothing worse than posting a question or even e-mailing a question for that matter. To not even get the courtesy of a reply.
  8. Hey Thank you Kevin! I think you have helped more people than you would ever know (including me). Get educated to "HybridZ" Jargon! As my Dad said years ago I doesn't hurt to ask questions (knowlege is gained by always questioning).
  9. Your not holding your mouth right. Next time on cornering left stick your tongue to the left; if turning right tongue to right. You see the weight of your tongue counteracts the G force derived from said turn. Now I honestly don't know what you would stick out to gain power above 7000 RPM?
  10. Tony is right. If you wanted to squeeze more then a rising rate fuel pressure regulator would help get the last bit of fuel out of stock injectors. Then next step would be larger injectors; I/C;Larger TB;on and on and on. Your wallet is your only limitation!!!!!!Be sure and get a Air fuel ratio gauge to analize your mix!!
  11. Guys last year I bought some used Hyro Lash Adjusters for my p-90a I think I paid about$30 to $35 a piece at Z barn these were used. They said they picked over them to get the best ones.
  12. Thanks for the support Darrel. I tore into it last night. Thought I obtained all the seals from Nissan dealership (cost $60 that hurt). Turn out they didn't include the large O ring that goes in the Rear Housing. Well that's my luck will have to wait til Monday but also need a new breather tube that runs from one boot to the other which I bet will cost!
  13. I removed my power steering. Car washed it and about to tear into it to stop the leaks. Anyone rebuilt these before if so any words of wisdom or things to remember? Thanks Len.
  14. You gotta admit Donna has a cuter stoker motor than you! HA! Hey Donna! Your building a 3.0 stoker turbo? Did you bore out your L28? You must have. With all the goodies you have put on your old L28 you wouldn't want to give that all up!
  15. Hmmmm! Grumpy thanks for the input for Kid-vid. Looks like he learned alot with or without owning a Z! I learn alot and I've got four Z's. Not as good a mechanic as alot of guys on this website. But I'm also older and wiser not to judge and call names to people I have never met (even if they don't have a Z. That's what I like about this site everyone is welcome. Hey I remember a guy named Davy; He finally bought a Z last week. I thought he had alot of knowledge along with being a nice guy. This world has enough people who judge other people for what they have or don't have! Sure hate to see it get started on this site! Len
  16. Yea I'm familiar with Shady Nook. Not the import but the American motors part (for My 95 Dodge P/U). You've got mail I live in SW area of OKC around South Rockwell north of river Len
  17. Hope to sponsor "ProMed" stands for Professional Medical. Cause I don't see much buffer for the driver in case of a front end collision! Although looks like the picture was taken at the Salt flats. Len
  18. I've usally found rust behind rear wheel wells and on the inside rear of the front wheel(along with below & around battery box). You also may find rust on the front passenger and driver side floor pans (from water running down from a leaky windshield). A guy in Edmond had a few Z's sitting behind his business. I bought a few last year. I noticed a few 280's without to much rust still there (if he hasen't sold them yet). What part of Oklahoma are you from? Len
  19. I bought my 83 280zxt about 1 1/2yrs ago. The guy who owned it before had a wife who when mad kicked the car . I've been doing touch up and I cut out and repaired a few places behind the rear wheels. I used enamel in some areas and also used lacquer out of a spray can in others. I to felt enamel was a little more durable than lacquer. Just wanted a little more educated 2nd opinion (thanks). I am really glad its a white car. So much easier to match. If you look close a person can see the difference. For that matter if a person looked close he would see alot more flaws than just a slight color shade . Daly City. I like that area. I was born in San Jose and raised in Palo Alto till I was 16 then around 1970 my parents kidnapped me to Oklahoma Thinking back I'm glad they did (finally forgave them HA!). Now I couldn't think of a better place to raise my kids than OK. I visit my mother who lives in Watsonville twice a year and see how crowded CA. has become. Even so, I always enjoy going back to visit. Its so crowded because someone let the secret out of the bag on how nice it is to live in CA. (climate, food, variety and diversity of terrain). Thank you for your help. Len
  20. Thanks RacerX You more than answered my question. I didn't realize paint suppliers had such things! But if I was just going to do a quick touch up on not very noticeable locations. What would you think more durable out of your pep boys spraycan Lacquer or Enamel? You see the guy that painted it before didn't use the stock # Datsun color of white. I am pretty lucky that the spray cans I've used is a pretty close match. Len
  21. Racer X I have been refered to you by a highly qualified Z Man that says(and I agree). That you can offer reccomendations on a durable primer and paint combo out of a rattle can. I have a white 280 zxt that I've just recieved lower front body parts from Vic british that I would like to paint before I attach to my car. What would you reccomend since I don't have a spray rig and have been using a spraycan? Any input would be appreciated Len
  22. Tomahawk I've heard epoxy is the way to go because it is so hard. But I have a white car that I can really match closely the color by using white lacquer out of a spray can. I know it is a sin but it is a cheap way to go. Don't know how durable its gonna be. In time when I start on my Lt-1 in my 78 Z I would like to buy a spray rig and do things the correct way. Thanks for your input Len
  23. Hi guys I just received some body parts from Vic British. They were painted sorta gloss black. I need to paint them white. Do I need to just wipe them down with lacquer, them paint them (thinking the black paint is primer). Or do you think I need to lightly sand, spray white lacquer primer then finish with white lacquer paint?
  24. Phantom is right on the gearing on your 4 speed, except the final drive was 3.55 (only off by .01 ) Len
