  1. If you opt for the Apexi computer that does away with AFM's you wont need them and you can get a more efficient runner
  2. Local place here (Perth W Aust) advised me that there is an after market dump pipe set from China that are an exact copy of the HKS ones but he would pay the A$200 extra for the HKS ones due to their quality - sounds like good advice to me. Regards the manifold, he also mentioned the S/S ones again from China, but reckoned all you need to do is grind out the standard cast ones to the turbo size which is the best option. He has also tracked down for me the Garrett Ball Bearing turbos (400HP) which are a straight swap for the OE. I have the part number at work and will post it on the site tomorrow. The cost here for this turbo is A$1250 incl tax, ie A$2500 for the set. I thought that was pretty good.
  3. Does anyone know how to tell the year of a car? The halfcut I have has the following numbers on the plate: Chassis BNR32-005269 Model KBNR32RXFSLMZG KH2 G RB26DETT 2568 FS5R30A RC41 5
  4. The Nissan guy had this feedback from several customers. Some had added some alloy to the pump and remachined the face. Others had just applied lots of sealant. He said like you he was surprised as they should be the same block, however he did say in the parts book they are listed for an R33 no listing for an R32 so there may be something we dont know.
  5. I dont know about that! Not rich like you yanks! Is those prices much better than the US? regards Mike
  6. Has any one used the N1 pump on an R32 GTR motor - parts guy at Nissan was saying that the N1 pump is listed for an R33 and when you put it on an R32 they sometimes drip and have to be either alloyed or heaps of sealant - anyone seen this? Also he was saying that the N1 pumps are good for flow at revs but round town can actually make the car run hotter - anyone seen this?
  7. I am now at this stage so have ordered the parts just from a local Nissan dealer here. The sump is A$300 including GST, the pickup A$61 and the O ring A$4. When I receive them I will photograph. Out of interest I checked other part prices with Nissan as well: N1 Oil pump (same price as standard pump) A$560 N1 Water pump (same price as standard) A$320 Timing belt A$75 (Nismo A$400!) Complete Gasket set A$470 The parts guy was telling me that until 12 mths ago the N1 pumps were actually cheaper than the standard ones! Mike
  8. very nice, what size tyres are you hoping to run? regards Mike
  9. I took the radiator out of my R32 halfcut and it will fit with minimal change in terms of width and height. It is aluminium and only very thin so will be lighter and more efficient than the original 240Z radiator. I will measure and put on the site, I still dont know how to put pictures attached to these threads can anyone tell me how? Mike
  10. Jamie & 240ZTurbo, thanks very much for your help. I have also been contacted on separate email by Matt at Motorworx, who mentioned the R34 turbos or HKS 2530 or 2540. He did mention though problems with the RB26 exhaust housing. He also mentioned that the stock exhaust manifolds have a small outlet whilst most of the aftermarket turbos have a large turbine inlet. He said that the after market manifolds are worth more than a 1000rpm sooner spool. Jamie did you have probs or did you get different exhaust manifolds & housing? 240Z are you saying you will supply upgraded standard housings? What do you expect them to run and cost? regards Mike
  11. thanks Chuckie, read the thread - fantastic, just what I wanted regards Mike
  12. Has anyone got the answer to the above. I want to stick with current layout, brackets, water & oil cooling, but want ball bearing more efficient and newer turbos. Has anyone found out what models these might be - Garrett, HKS, etc? thanks Mike
  13. Anyone done this - when you change to rear pan sump the dipstick will have to be moved and presumably a new hole drilled. I notice a slight indentation on the block that may be able to be drilled out. If you've done it were you successful at getting the dipstick tube ourt and reusing - any tips? How did you go about drilling out the back and plugging the original location? thanks Mike
  14. thanks cheftrd, really appreciate it. Regards
  15. Can anyone give me the gear ratios for the above Skyline R34DET gearbox & standard diff ratio if possible. I have searched the siteand also many times on the net and cant find them. I know the GTR had a 4.1 difff (which my 240Z has) but not sure what the diff and gear ratios are in the R34DET which is the box I have to put behind my RB26 convert.
  16. Yes the 14K as I stated was restored with new seats, dash, everything. I plan to use the aircond, radiator, I/C, standard turbos, etc as well, but will depend on them being ok regards Mike
  17. Where can you get the cooler/remote kit from? Does the kit have a plate that replaces the filter fitting on the motor or does the kit spin on to the original filter fitting? regards Mike
  18. I will let you know the cost of mine once all done, however in Australia, the 240Z cost me $14K (Aust), however it had had a full body off resto 4yrs ago & still in immaculate condition. (I didnt want to have to restore a car only fit the running gear). The R32 GTR halfcut cost me $5500 and the gearbox (R34 DET 5 speed $1500. So that is $21k so far - will sell some of the halfcut to get some money back. There is a long way to go so imagine a lot more money to be spent yet. Not sure how much other Aussies have spent to get there's up.
  19. Thanks Jamie, will check it out Mike
  20. I agree with you CAMS are a pain in the A, can never keep up with the changes. As long as you can compete thats greta, thanks Mike
